🇿🇦 The pain of being a white South African, worse being a male. You pay taxes like everybody else, pay vat, pay fuel levies, pay rates but your taxes can't fund your businesses because you are white. You can't secure certain jobs and promotions because you are white. You can't get some tenders because of the color of your skin. Your family had nothing to do with apartheid, you worked to secure a job, got a mortgate to buy your house. Worse: A Congolese, Ghanania, Zimbabwean, Nigerian that gets naturalised, qualifies for all black economic empowerment because they are black, but a young white man and woman born and raised in Mzansi gets overlooked. @AdriaanBasson @elonmusk @TimPlewman I think the anti-black laws were way more extreme under apartheid. The number of laws might be correct. I'm not sure. It's still a valid point that racial discrimination under law is wrong. Especially 32 years after apartheid ended.

The facts are there for anyone to observe. South Africa now has more anti-White laws than there were anti-Black laws under Apartheid! I am extremely opposed to anti-Black laws, but equally opposed to the laws against White people or other races too. There should be a fair and even playing field.

We should all be vehemently in favour of the pursuit to eradicate poverty and unemployment. This requires good education, good policies and people willing to develop their skills, work hard and live within their means. Unfortunately, too many people want us to believe that poverty, unemployment and inequality are synonymous. I suspect it's because many on the Left are more driven by hatred for the "haves" than empathy and support for the "have nots". And so, they frame the pursuit to eradicate poverty (which is attainable) as a pursuit for equality of outcome (which is unattainable). In this pursuit, they would like us to believe the solution is government intervention at the expense of property rights, and freedom in the market. The consequence is never that higher levels of equality is achieved, but it always leads to higher levels of poverty and unemployment. So, ironically, the pursuit of equality has become a pursuit to increase poverty and unemployment. It's really not rocket science, but people respond to this very basic idea aggressively, because their ideology dictates that they should sacrifice reality on the altar of political theory.

The South African right wing and its fellow travellers, mostly people with one brain cell, are hoping the same thing that happened to Venezuela will happen here. Trump will be gone soon. We will not forget. There will be a reckoning.
