Sareee is unable to compete tonight in the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Tournament, as she was not cleared to compete ahead of her match with Skye Blue. As a result, Tony Khan has announced it will be Maya World who takes Blue’s place in the tournament. As discussed in her interview with Masahiro Chono, Takumi Iroha did travel with Sareee to be in her corner and was an option to compete, but AEW will instead go with World — who gets a major opportunity herself. Wishing the best for Sareee, the possibility and hopes for that Athena match will remain present in the future. Happy she can take care of her neck further, but a bummer that she’s unable to compete. This is for the best and I look forward to when the possibility comes again. Tony Khan did say they hope to have Sareee back in the future to compete in an AEW ring. In an interview talking with Masahiro Chono for Tokyo Sports, Sareee confirmed that her neck isn’t quite back to full strength yet. Because of that, her SPARK RUSH partner Takumi Iroha will travel with her and be in her corner for her AEW debut on Dynamite in the Owen Hart Tournament. If Sareee is unable to compete due to her neck, she told Chono that it will be Iroha who will step in as substitute for her in this year’s tournament.
