Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez: Starting next week, my government will implement the following actions: First, we will change the law in Spain to hold platform executives legally accountable for many infringements taking place on their sites. Second, we will turn algorithmic manipulation and amplification of illegal content into a new criminal offense. Third, we will implement a hate and polarization footprint system to track, quantify, and expose how digital platforms fuel division and amplify hate. Fourth, Spain will ban access to social media for minors under the age of 16. Platforms will be required to implement effective age verification systems — not just checkboxes, but real barriers that work. Fifth and last, my government will work with our public prosecutor to investigate and pursue the infringement committed by Grok, TikTok, and Instagram.

I have been watching derek since 2013, and this video popped up 2 days back, on reading this tweet I thought he sold off his channel or something - today i got the time to actually see the video
this is what actually happened -
veritasium is partially owned by a VC, called electrify. derek has been making videos weekly everyday for 10yrs, for which he got exhausted and he couldn't get time with his family or himself for the fact. so he partnered up with a VC, hired a few other people to help him make videos and took a backseat from making the videos alone. that's it, nothing else. He didn't want to stop the channel because his main motive to promote scientific rigor, which can be done with him in the backseat as well.
i don't even how unsympathetic and inhumane you have to be to not support this move. we often forget that fact the people we watch online are humans too. they have lifes too. once we god-complexing them, maybe we can understand they live the same life we do. Maybe then we can learn to understand and be human towards others.

@flippnflops I’ve been using @gather_town for two days and I feel like I did when I first used the iPhone — I love it! There are so many things I can see that would add value: interactive objects like whiteboards that open an Excalidraw, record players that play shared Spotify music in breakout rooms, arcade machines where employees have scores so we can challenge each other and play Tetris or Among Us during Pomodoro breaks, custom picture frames, interactive clocks, and not just screen sharing but also remote desktop control — kind of like AnyDesk.
