The APC National chairman is a dark horse for 2031 presidency. He is clearly on my radar. His stock keeps rising. Is it sustainable?
Imran Muhammad@Imranmuhdz

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Visits Kano, Woos Ex-Governor Shekarau and Senator Gwarzo to Rejoin Party The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, personally visited former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo at Shekarau’s residence, known as Mundubawa Palace, in Kano on Wednesday. Yilwatda described the outreach as a plea for mentorship and support, positioning himself as “their son” who needs their guidance to strengthen the party in the North. “Come and help me, I am your son. I need your support, I need your mentorship. I am pleading with you to come and help me,” he said during the meeting. He further urged those present to encourage the leaders to return to the APC, adding: “Let us all come back to APC. Your son at the APC is pleading; I cannot do it alone. Together we can build a very strong alliance to help the North.” Shekarau, who responded warmly, praised the APC chairman for making the trip himself rather than delegating it. “You have come to us; it is something you could have sent someone to do or even meet me in Abuja, but you came yourself,” he noted. The former governor revealed that he and his allies are currently reviewing their political options amid what he called “the cancer that have infected us in the PDP.” He stopped short of making an immediate commitment, saying consultations are ongoing. “In a couple of days, you will hear from us whether we will join you or not, but I assure you that you will hear from us,” Shekarau stated. He emphasized that any decision would prioritize the interest of Kano State: “Whatever we will do will be put on the scale of ‘Kano first’.”

Tinubu in a quest to kill the opposition entirely, might just end up doing the exact opposite, successfully bringing together an opposition that will ultimately lead to his own political doom. LP was a party with its Obidients, organic, energetic, and driven by belief. Tinubu meddled with their internal affairs, fueled crises, deepened factions, and in the process rendered them politically disoriented, almost partyless. PDP with Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed trying to push over Atiku Abubakar and position themselves as President and Vice President, Tinubu through Nyesom Wike meddles again, weaponizing internal divisions, and leaves the party even more fractured, practically partyless at the national level. Same thing with RMK, He was doing fine with his Kano and NNPP, and not even interested in anything that has to do with coalition, until Tinubu meddles with NNPP, and Kano affairs, then he is left with no choice. And then people like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, practically forced out of the APC because the President doesn’t want to do anything right and doesn’t want to be questioned. These are people who were instrumental in the formation of the coalition that birthed APC, people with the strategy, the structure, and the reach to recreate another 2015 moment. What exactly was Tinubu expecting these people to do, sit down and watch him stroll into 2027 on a platter? Lol. Politics doesn’t work like that, I thought he knew better. Pressure creates alliances, and exclusion breeds rebellion, if Tinuby had allowed this parties to function individually, I doubt if the ego, and pride of these politician will allow them to form this coalition, but excess power has a way of clouding people's thought, in your desperation to keep it, it will sleep away without you noticing. Tinubu definitely miscalculated.

The most significant and unexpected thing Tinubu has done is unite the opposition leaders. He has strengthened their bond in a way no one could have imagined. When you play too much, you end up playing yourself, BAT has played himself.

So I just heard from a very close pal and a staunch member of the APC online media team. They have a manual that specifically instruct them to inset @PeterObi in all their discussion or messages to get the public attention. Some of them are given the task of tweeting about PO atleast 10 times a day. They also have a manual titled “Peter Obi”

VDM is nothing but a political tool, and on top of that, someone who clearly thrives on personal glory.Think about it—how does he consistently insult people in power or those close to power, yet nothing ever happens to him? But let a politician make a small misstep, and suddenly there’s an arrest. That contradiction alone should make people pause. It’s about time Nigerians start seeing him for who he really is, not just the image he tries to project.

Terribly terrible remarks once again from a supposed statesman calling the country he hopes to lead one day a “disgraced country”. The most disappointing part of that is the fact that, the criticism that would have justified this disrespect to ones’ fatherland, as laid down in the tweet below, is filled with misinformation and most likely deliberate lies just to continually maintain the populist rhetoric you are known for, so no surprise here. Now, let’s lay the facts out. - Firstly, the Primary Health Care System in Nigeria is basically the responsibility of states and local governments and as such expecting the Federal Government to take blame for its running or otherwise is not just unconstitutional but hypocritical. But I think we should not be that surprised since Your Excellency has no record of working on Basic Healthcare as governor in Anambra, you had probably thought that should be done by the FG so we can excuse that incompetence as usual. That being said, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has continued to contribute its quota to Basic Healthcare development through various initiatives since 2023 with over N70bn already disbursed through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund. Here is a link for your team to verify as over 50bn was released in 2025 alone - thenationonlineng.net/fg-injects-%E2… These funds have been allocated to strategically intervene in the upgrade and development of Basic Healthcare facilities across the 774 LGs in Nigeria. - Secondly, the claim that only 36million Naira was spent on Nigeria’s Health Sector in the whole of 2025 is not just false but awkwardly delusional for anyone to believe because no doubt, the whole country would have been in chaos by now. In 2025 alone, 3 major oncology centers were commissioned by this administration. God knows how N35 million Naira could have made that possible. I have laid the facts out before now and hopefully your team can take time to read, digest and verify for you sir - x.com/dolusegun/stat… - On the major milestones of the administration on healthcare since 2023, here is a link for your perusal - x.com/dolusegun/stat…. Go and verify.👌 Lastly, a host of our federal universities have seen unprecedented attention over the past few years with investments in health infrastructure as several teaching hospitals are now being taken off the national grid through the @TheREANigeria. While criticism helps every government to deliver the best possible outcomes for the populace, it is indeed important to do it from a place of knowledge and good faith otherwise, the objectives would have been defeated. We would always welcome criticism, what we would not accept is a deliberate attempt to misinform the people while using that opportunity to disrespect our dear nation.

Now a Disgraced Country Indeed Today, as the world marks World Health Day, we must pause for honest reflection. Nigeria, a nation of over 200 million people, continues to grapple with one of the weakest healthcare systems in the world. Our primary healthcare structure is almost comatose. We now record worse infant mortality outcomes than India, a country with a larger population, while health insurance coverage in Nigeria remains below 5%. These are not just statistics; they are a painful indictment of our priorities. Recent disclosures by the Honourable Minister of Health show that out of the ₦218 billion appropriated for healthcare capital expenditure, only about ₦36 million has been released. This is deeply troubling. At the same time, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has projected over ₦135 billion for legal expenditures. Let us reflect on this. The amount earmarked for election-related litigation is far higher than what has been made available for primary healthcare, the very foundation of a nation’s wellbeing. This is the same primary healthcare system expected to serve millions of Nigerians and support critical institutions such as: 1. University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City 2. University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar 3. University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada 4. University College Hospital, Ibadan 5. Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife 6. University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin 7. Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua 8. University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu 9. Jos University Teaching Hospital, Jos 10. Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital, Kano 11. Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos 12. University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri 13. Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi 14. University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt 15. Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto 16. University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo 17. Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria 18. Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki 19. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi 20. Federal Medical Centre, Yola These institutions represent hope for millions. Yet, they remain underfunded, overstretched, and burdened by systemic neglect. A nation that prepares more for electoral disputes than for the health of its citizens is a nation that has lost its way. We must begin to ask the difficult but necessary questions: What are our true priorities? What kind of nation are we building? And for whom? Healthcare and education are not optional; they are the foundation of national development. Any country that neglects them undermines its own future. Nigeria must urgently reorder its priorities. We must invest in the health and wellbeing of our people, strengthen our institutions, and build a system that works for all, not just a few. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
