I explain why the accusation that Israel is committing "genocide" is blood libel. Me: The application of the word genocide to refer to tens of thousands of war deaths is, I mean, I think it is a kind of blood libel. It's trying to import the moral opprobrium that we associate with genocide to a designated enemy, in this case, Israel. I think because I alluded to my side bias, the sides in this case being the sides that a lot of hard left critical theory has defined, namely white oppressors against everyone else's victims. Moynihan: It's pretty strong to say this is like a blood libel. Me: Well, it is a blood libel in the sense that it is an accusation of deliberate murder, ill-founded in that the, and one could disagree with Israel's campaign against Gaza, one could say that this is not justifiable, it's not a just war. It's still different from deliberately murdering as many people as possible, as in, and we know there have been genocides. I think it really is a terrible blood libel, and it's a sign of how people's moralizing in the service of demonizing and dichotomizing, dividing the world into good and evil can just flatten their ability to analyze and to think clearly.

@willmcgugan I had my fair share of frustration around Hugo versions (Debian provided vs manually installed). I ended up using docker for it, and it works alright.

Trying again to build a Hugo site. Picked a theme, install the submodule, linked the theme. Server gave me cryptic errors. I read the theme's docs, and I need to install Go. I do that, and run a hugo command which installs stuff, and try it again.

@Stammy @minimalcompany I have my own peaceful/calm phone-like (but not a phone) device and it is a pleasure to use. I was surprised to read more on this than on my Kobo. And it is incredibly cheap (~$100)!

@Stammy @minimalcompany I really like them, but unfortunately they're not an smartphone substitute. Many of the required apps/tools for modern life do not work that well. Companies also want to control the UI experience, bias the user to certain pattern/action/monetization.

i don't think these types of products are exactly for me but i just love the concept and seeing people focus on them. Not just the Light Phone, there's also the @minimalcompany Phone, Boox Palma/Note Max, Remarkable, Daylight, etc then again i also loved the CueCat, Sony eMarker, Lytro, Light L16..

@ericmigi There was elegance and readability on the Pebble 2. For comparison Pebble time was difficult to read, and was clunkier.
