@GregorySchier Just use NixOS. Immutable config. If you break something just boot the previous config. Don't even need to learn the crazy NixOS language. Point an agent at your config and Bob's your uncle.

Ah, I'm remembering why I switched to Mac ~10 years ago. I just rebooted my Framework/Omarchy setup and now the screen is just... black. I'm sure I could debug/fix it but I have work to do.

@dhh @nategentile7 Opinionated Linux is the missing layer. Every distro tried to be everything; the win is picking defaults so the user doesn't have to.

@EthanLipnik This to me is one of the top macOS features and has been for decades, not necessarily the "drag to...", but it's a nice way of "educating" the user: there's a folder with all their apps, they can open it and manage them from there, which is miles ahead of Windows

I keep seeing this complaint and I don't get it unless you don't regularly use macOS. The entire app is contained. There's no installer (uninstalling should be either with cache files but whatever) But so many times when I just give users the .app they open it in their downloads folder. This is an easy way to install to the applications folder and tell the user "you are putting this here. This drag is authenticating it." Rather than a multi step wizard that might be sneaking and installing things it shouldn't
