@CmonMattTHINK Since the domain is compact, the image in any continuous function would be compact. If you want a bijection you'll unfortunately need a discontinuos function.

I just wrote a problem that started, "Suppose that g is a one-to-one function with domain [-2,4] and range [0,oo)." But then I tried to sketch the graph of such a function and... got a little stuck! Does such a function exist? 🤔

Share an insult but make it mathematical. I'll go first: You're more dense than the rational numbers between 0 and 1.

@MarissaKawehi Split in groups of 3 or 4. Each group must find something they have in common. Then, each group shares their find. The winner is the group whose common trait is shared by the fewest people outside that group. It forces the groups to look for the strangest thing in common.

Descubrir que un edificio de mi universidad alguna vez sirvió como corte me recuerda el edificio del departamento de matemáticas aplicadas de Charles University. Fue claustro de iglesia y fue un banco antes de pertenecer a la universidad.

Once in an extremal graph theory talk, the speaker explained why the subgraphs he was counting appeared for various reasons, each contributing an exponential number of such graphs. "Ultimately, in a random sampling you only observe the one with the largest base".
