Today at work there was a 11hr outage bridge call over a small but important area of the Windows network having application errors. Not debilitating but would be eventually. Here is how I helped solve it after being asked to take a look, and how I approach problems like this. 🧵

@ronfriedmann My best guess is companies don’t want to limit what people might call them for, so it’s all pictures and platitudes, but I feel the same way.

I am struck by how often I visit a corporate website and cannot tell from the home page what they do. Is it just me? Is the assumption that the only visitors are ones who already know that business? Sometimes, ISDN even after viewing the About Us. Yikes.

@ReignOfApril Fax is horribly outdated, but apparently remains a relatively cheap way to communicate securely, which is part of the reason institutions still use it.

Can confirm. I was also told the “fastest” way to have a form processed was to fax it. The only other option was to mail it. (ProTip: local libraries may have a fax machine, but it costs to use it.)

@cbctom Sorry, I don’t think that sounded the way I intended. I meant if you want to sit in a section where everyone knows what’s going on, you sit in the 500s.

they should have special sections for fans who really know the game of baseball, or are willing learn. Everybody else can sit together, get up in the middle of an inning, block your view, do the wave & ask stupid questions to others who don't know baseball. End of thread.

Lady behind me is explaining baseball to a foreigner. She doesn’t know the game, but THINKS she does. I can’t take this for 9 innings. What do I do? #BlueJays
