Laois businesswoman urges more people to ‘show up and spoil’ their presidential vote independent.ie/regionals/laoi…

This was an Irish government omnishambles. The farce began when minister for justice Jim O’Callaghan reached for the Tommy Robinson card, saying he was influencing the protesters. According to our politicians, those who work the land from dusk to dawn, and the hauliers who bring the produce to our supermarkets, cannot think for themselves – Robinson must be manipulating them. In reality, farmers and hauliers could see that they were being fleeced by the Irish government’s outrageous tax regime on fuel, and its stubborn intention to increase the carbon tax in April, despite the fallout from the war in the Middle East. The Irish government currently takes over 57 per cent of the price of petrol and 48 per cent of the price of diesel. ✍️ Laura Perrins Article | spectator.com/article/irelan…

In my column today, I set out why financial support for Ukraine is 100% in our own self-interest. If Putin wins there'll be more refugees, more wars and price shocks. I also set out why the carbon tax and climate action can free the next generation from the roller coaster of fossil fuel prices we've had to deal with since the 1970's

The people in charge don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus. Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity. Today's Morning Note newsletter covers Masoud Pezeshkian's condemnation of Trump's “desecration of Jesus,” the Iran War's gutting effects on America's housing market, Colombia's plan to murder Pablo Escobar's hippopotami, and more.
