Day 1 of building PainMap in public. GummySearch shut down. 140,000 founders lost their research tool overnight. I'm building what comes next. Not just pain point discovery. Opportunity scoring, competition intel, and a full MVP brief. The whole thing. In one tool. painmap.io

Day 10 of building PainMap in public. The full research loop is finished. You search a niche, PainMap finds validated pain points, mines competitor reviews, identifies the gaps and generates the full MVP brief and landing page copy suggestion. The brief tells you: What to build and why, which competitor weaknesses to exploit, what to charge based on real WTP signals, your positioning statement & where to find your first 100 customers. Giving the user research grade input and actionable output, from search to to product decision in under 2 minutes.

Exactly this. Most tools just scrape reddit and call it research, I decided that wasn't enough. Especially if I am planning to generate MRR from PainMap. Our pain point discovery pulls from a variety of sources across multiple platforms, running three parallel search angles, each approaching the niche in a different way, to find out what people are actually willing to pay to fix. WTP (willingness to pay) signals get extracted from those searches. That could be explicit price mentions, budget complaints, scaling costs etc. This becomes the pricing anchor. We then mine competitor reviews, going through 1 & 2 star reviews of every major competitor in the space. Finding issues with tools people are already paying for. All of this feeds into one single MVP brief, features defined by competitor weaknesses, pricing anchored to real pay signals and positioning built from the exact language used in the reviews. The output isn't simply a list of what people are complaining about on reddit or X, its a product decision backed by research grade evidence. All delivered to the user in under 90 seconds.

@painmapio Smart direction. A lot of teams still build from assumptions instead of real user friction. Mining low-rated reviews to surface recurring workflow pain points is a strong way to find positioning gaps.

Day 9 of building PainMap in public. Just shipped competitor review mining. Type a niche. PainMap now automatically: — Finds the top tools people use — Mines their 1 and 2 star reviews — Surfaces the recurring complaints — Identifies the exact gap to exploit — Writes your positioning angle This is results from a search in the healthcare niche.

Day 8 of building PainMap in public. After some great feedback from members of our waiting list, we have gone ahead and improved the outputs given by PainMap. As you can see, PainMap now shows the sources, evidence found, actual WTP signal, how recent this has been discussed and the competitors in this niche. The paid version will also show real user feedback from the competition and the MVP will use this information to position your product as a better and complete alternative.

Interesting take on validation being about invalidation rather than validation. You're right that early research gives you 'don't kill this yet' signals. painmap.io helps bridge that gap by scoring pain points from real conversations, giving you stronger validation signals than surveys or interviews alone. Worth exploring for that extra confidence.

There is this notion of "validate your idea before you start working on it" - in my experience, that's false. Startup ideas can be invalidated, at best, not validated. The best you can get from early research is "I shouldn't kill this idea yet."

Day 5 of building PainMap.io Wasn’t planning to post today, but this changed my mind. Since launching the landing page, 153 people have visited the site and 45 joined the waitlist. That’s a 29.4% conversion rate. Coming from a digital marketing background, I know how hard that is to do. What it tells me: 1. The message is landing 2. The demand is real 3. The outreach is pulling in high-intent traffic That’s a very good sign

I’m just 16. That won’t stop me from building the world’s biggest network of vibe coders. I’m planning to expand my current platform, saasmarket.site, to include: - News for vibe coders, an AI-powered newspaper with information for vibe coders - A market where founders can share their products - Competitions where founders can submit projects and win prizes - More to come This will be one of my most ambitious projects, and I’m excited to build it and share it with an amazing community here on X.
