@StudentofTE @ArunAnnow I have been searching but unable to find these writings, are they available anywhere online?

The same oppressed Sinhalese working class was actively participating in the butchering of the Tamil working class for decades, while also benefiting from settler colonialism in Tamil areas, similar to Jewish settlers in Palestine.
Class solidarity is not possible when national oppression is the primary contradiction. This is basic Marxism 101.
Tamil militant groups that tried to work with them were betrayed, and even moderate Tamil leadership faced the same outcome.
The LTTE wrote extensively about how class solidarity was not possible under those conditions, and that hasn’t changed.

@StudentofTE @ArunAnnow is home to an impoverished and oppressed Sinhalese working class that is, unlike the Jewish population in Palestine, a natural ally of the oppressed minorities because its gains nothing from their subjugation and shares the same common enemy in the ruling Sinhalese capitalist
English

@StudentofTE @ArunAnnow Even the Mahavamsa itself was basically unknown prior to its discovery by British orientalists and was then taken up by Sinhalese elites as a kind of nationalist myth

@StudentofTE @ArunAnnow own electoral and accumulative benefit rather than an organic political mobilization

@909incs @ArunAnnow Yes this comparison is illuminating, you are correct about this

@pairbondai @ArunAnnow don't have to be openly hostile anymore because they've succeeded in being "friendly" about oppressing Tamils and portray themselves as victims of Tamils instead of directly aggressing Tamils themselves. Very similar to anti-black racism.

@ArunAnnow The aim of the UNP in the 1980s, I'm thinking here of the likes of Gamini Dissanayake, Cyril Mathew and JR, was precisely to prevent this from happening.

@ArunAnnow There are many of us who are committed to a cross ethnic socialist movement and in fact you will find that this is the case even among some Tamils living in the north and east, though of course they are still in the minority
English

@ArunAnnow trajectory of that ideology, we're seeing things now like open criticism of the Sangha that would have been unimaginable even five years ago. It'll take a lot of effort to fully relegate it but I dont think optimism of the will is inappropriate in that regard
English

@ArunAnnow I think you're right in that Sinhala nationalism remains a significant force, and that is the cause of these injustices. Thats unsurprising since it's been the hegemonic ideology among Sinhalese basically since independence, but I think you're wrong about the political..
English

You're incorrect about the political trajectory entirely, Kivul Oya, the PSTA, and the JVP ultimately conceding to the SLPP backed SinBud faction when they placed the Buddha statue in Trinco are indications that things aren't getting better for the Tamils
vasana@pairbondai
@ArunAnnow in the islands political history. If things continue this way, why would a one state solution not be possible or preferable? Especially considering the fact that forming an ethnic Tamil state in the north and east would cause a significant danger for Muslims
