🇷🇴🇵🇰 A meaningful visit to Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where I had the opportunity to engage with local officials, academia, students, and cultural initiatives that reflect the strong and growing ties between Romania and Pakistan. 🤝📚🎨 🇪🇺 Together with the Ambassador of Belgium🇧🇪, Mr Charles-Idesbald van der Gracht de Rommerswael, we reaffirmed the spirit of European unity and dialogue through our joint visit and exchanges in the province. 👩‍🎓 At Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, I delivered a lecture on Romania–Pakistan relations and the vital importance of women’s empowerment. I emphasized that women represent one of Pakistan’s greatest untapped resources and that investing in women’s education, leadership, and economic participation is essential for the country’s future development and prosperity. 🌍✨ The enthusiasm, intelligence, and ambition of the students were truly inspiring. 🏛️ I also had the pleasure of visiting Abasyn University and discussing opportunities for academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and stronger people-to-people contacts between Romania and Pakistan. 🤝 🖼️ An important cultural moment of the visit was the inauguration of two exhibitions: one dedicated to diplomatic documents and photographs illustrating the history of Romania–Pakistan relations, and another showcasing artworks inspired by Romania. 🇷🇴🎨 These exhibitions celebrate the longstanding friendship, mutual respect, and cultural dialogue between our two countries. 🙏 Thank you to our hosts in Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially the Honorary Consul of Romania Masood Ahmad Qazi, for the warm welcome and meaningful discussions. @oana_toiu @PdCMAERO @MAERomania @EUPakistan @BelgiumISB

Pakistan Mission welcomed a group of students from the Sciences Po Paris Dijon Campus for an interactive exchange on Pakistan’s foreign policy and multilateral engagements. DPR/Cd’A (a.i.) Jawad Ali and Mission’s officers briefed the visiting delegation on multilateral priorities and shared Pakistan’s perspective on developments in West Asia and Middle East. The exchange also covered developments in South Asia.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a meeting today of the Committee on Recognition of Medical, Dentistry and Alternative Medicine Educational Institutions. The Committee reviewed and scrutinized cases relating to the recognition of medical, dentistry and alternative medicine educational institutions under the relevant laws. DPM/FM emphasized the importance of quality assurance and adherence to international standards. The Committee further reiterated that Pakistani students seeking medical education abroad must follow the process for prior registration laid down by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) to avoid any issues in the future. The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Health Services and Regulations, Minister for Law and Justice, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Health, Secretary Education, and senior officials from relevant Ministries and departments.

DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a meeting on establishing new Federal and Provincial Universities and reviewing draft Bills for university charters. It was noted that the 2002 criteria for establishing universities is outdated and no longer aligned with current academic, research, and market needs. DPM/FM stressed the need to modernise the framework to ensure new institutions meet international standards of quality education, and research excellence. It was decided that HEC will revise the criteria for establishing Universities by 1st of June 2026 and all pending cases will be evaluated under the updated framework once finalised. The discussion also covered university performance, disciplines, global rankings, and the importance of prioritising fields in demand internationally. DPM/FM emphasised that higher education must deliver strong outcomes in employability, innovation, and research impact, equipping graduates for both domestic and global opportunities. The meeting was attended by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Education, HEC leadership, Rector NUST, and senior officials from relevant ministries.

The Embassy of Pakistan, Tokyo commemorated the 1st Anniversary of Marka-e-Haq with great national spirit and unity, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and people in defense of the nation’s sovereignty and dignity. 🇷🇴🇵🇰 The 10th of May has never been celebrated before in Pakistan. For this reason, we wished to inaugurate a new tradition and celebrate together with our Pakistani friends and members of the diplomatic corps in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. May 10 holds a triple historical significance for Romania and is today celebrated as Romania’s National Independence Day. Historically, it also served as Romania’s National Day (1866–1947), marking the arrival of Prince Carol I in Romania (1866), the proclamation of State Independence (1877), and the coronation of Romania’s first King (1881). We celebrate this day just one day after we celebrated Europe Day🇪🇺 together with all EU member states. Alongside Romanian traditional dances and costumes, the theme of this year’s Romanian National Independence Day celebration was Romanian–Pakistani friendship and the culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwestern Pakistan. Guests enjoyed a rabab concert, traditional Pashtun dances, and authentic dishes such as spicy Chapli Kebab, fragrant Kabuli Pulao, and slowly cooked Dum Pukht.
