#UNDPinPakistan is proud to support #PakistanGovernanceForum2026 in Islamabad 🇵🇰 — bringing together 500+ policymakers, development leaders, and practitioners to reimagine governance for a more transparent, inclusive, and resilient Pakistan. In his remarks, Prime Minister @CMShehbaz stressed strengthening public institutions for transparent fiscal management and equitable development, while Federal Minister @PlanComPakistan Prof. Ahsan Iqbal (@betterpakistan) highlighted long-term planning, and institutional reform as foundations for sustainable impact. UNDP Resident Representative Dr. @SamuelRizk emphasized translating macroeconomic stability into sustained, inclusive growth through strong institutions.

In Sindh Province, Pakistan, UNDP’s Flood Recovery Programme, supported by Global Affairs Canada, is restoring livelihoods, rehabilitating 40 schools for about 15,000 students and strengthening community resilience after the 2022 floods. In Dadu District, with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, improved water access and restored farmland and irrigation infrastructure are benefiting around 19,000 people. 🏠In Urak, Balochistan, 700+ climate-disaster resilient homes are being rebuilt using smart local design and inputs. These are cooler homes for heat adaptation, w accessible layouts for people with different mobility needs, and reinforced beams to withstand seismic shocks. Pakistan has launched its first National Strategy to Counter Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence — a major step toward safer digital spaces for women and girls. At the #CSW70 side event, Pakistan’s first National Strategy to Counter TFGBV was launched by the @mohrpakistan. Developed in collaboration with #UNDPinPakistan, the strategy marks an important step toward stronger protection, access to justice, and safer digital spaces. Senator @BushraAnjumButt, Head of the Pakistan Delegation, described violence against women and girls as one of the defining #HumanRights challenges of our time, and called for stronger laws, institutions, and social change to end abuse in all its forms, including in digital spaces.

Rebuilding safer, climate-resilient homes in Balochistan 🏡🌱 In Hanna–Urak, Quetta, 118 climate-resilient homes are being handed over to families whose houses were destroyed by the devastating 2022 floods — restoring safety, dignity and hope. Under the Flood Reconstruction and Coordination Programme, #UNDPinPakistan is supporting the construction of 700 climate-resilient homes across Balochistan, designed to withstand future climate shocks — with 40 homes already completed and handed over last year. With support from the Government of Germany through @KfW_Islamabad, and in partnership with @dpr_gob, communities are rebuilding stronger and more resilient. After the 2025 floods in Buner, Ahmad Khan waited days for treatment because the hospital had no electricity. Surgeries were delayed, neonatal care disrupted, and lives were at risk. #UNDPinPakistan brought solar power to hospitals, restoring 24/7 electricity. Climate-induced floods can disrupt education — damaging schools and making it harder for children, especially girls, to access safe learning spaces. 📚 #UNDPinPakistan and @CanadaDev/@CanHCPakistan are rehabilitating 40 schools in three districts of Sindh affected by the 2022 floods, improving infrastructure and WASH facilities to help nearly 15,000 students — including 10,000 girls — return to safer classrooms. A joint mission recently visited schools in Larkana to kick off rehabilitation works and engage with communities.
