Today marks 15 years of building apps for me. What a journey! There's been lots of trials and tribulations over the years, but I'm so grateful that I get to do what I love for work. lukaspetr.com/15-lessons-fro…

@codeOfRobin I have no idea if what the LLM does is sensible but why shouldn't it be possible to parallelize reading a zip? Each file entry is compressed independently so having the list of entries you could read+deflate file entries in parallel.

Advanced Swift Concurrency: don't use actors!! You can protect access to shared mutable state AND keep your API synchronous by using OSAllocatedUnfairLock.

@SteveMoser Do you know if the ISO layouts of this keyboard changed similarly?

Interesting new key on the new [deep breath] Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad for Mac models with Apple silicon (USB–C) Apple replaced the wide Control key in the lower left corner with a 🌐global key and they replaced the function key below the F13 key with a Menu key. Does anyone know what the Menu key does? Anyone have one? cc @zollotech Is this the first time the Menu button has appeared on an Apple keyboard? The Menu icon looks exactly like the Menu key on some Windows keyboards.

Can anyone at @Meta help me with the Tech Provider verification? We are completely done with a new amazing feature for our Teleprompter app (live streaming), but Meta keeps rejecting and asking for more info while not giving us any info what they are looking for.

@pfandrade_ Can you really lie to a machine? I would make it super clear in the README such that they don't waste human time if they feel you broke the rules.

@palmin I’m sure I can lie to get through, but I’d say I’d be starting with the wrong foot asking for help on their side 😝

Apparently, nowadays you need a sample project to file DTS with Apple. Otherwise they just send you to Apple Developer Forums. I have filed a Feedback, attached Safari crash logs, and steps to reproduce the issue with an app on the App Store. But alas, that’s not enough…

I'm a bit confused about the way the open source "Swift rewrite" of Foundation has got. It still relies on private Obj-C NSFoundation implementation with some Swift wrappers around it, isn't it (I thought the hype was that rewrite to swift make it faster) github.com/swiftlang/swif…

@krzyzanowskim Try to implement some algorithm from first principles i C and in Swift, run it many times and measure which one is faster. C always wins in my tests and sometimes compiling C to WebAssembly even beats Swift compiled to native arm.

@palmin most of the time I see is back to calling libc and manual memory allocation that make the performance. It rarely if ever come from the "common" Swift source code we're familiar with

I want to verify a fix in S3 Files when using raw IPv6 endpoints like http://[2001:db8:85a3::8a2e:370:7334]/ Do you use S3 Files and have a MinIO instance on a IPv6 network where you could try? Can't do it myself as I'm restricted to IPv4 the next week for fall break reasons.

gpt-3 from 2020 was a huge leap forward in natural language understanding and for the core tasks of translation and summarisation it improved a lot with gpt-3.5 two years later. The improvements with gpt-4 even for latest 2024 versions are much less pronounced.
Working Copy@WorkingCopyApp

Working Copy was updated with commit message suggestions a few days after the gpt-3.5-turbo model was made available through API and has served us well. Today Working Copy switched over to gpt-4o-mini for slightly better suggestions. x.com/WorkingCopyApp…
