Update: One week ago, we were at WWE having a blast. Monday, he had baseball practice. Tuesday, he woke up with severely swollen lymph nodes in his neck. By Thursday, our 5-year-old was getting a biopsy. In a matter of days, we went from normal life to hearing “it could be cancer.” That’s something no parent is ever prepared to hear. Watching him carry on like nothing was wrong… not understanding why big brother had to go home, why he had to stay in that “boring” room that part crushed me. Mentally preparing to tell him all the things he wouldn’t be doing over the next few weeks, while trying to stay strong… These were the longest 7 days of our lives. I saw more kids fighting for their lives than I ever want to see again but man, children are so strong. So resilient. I’m forever indebted to the doctors and nurses who not only treated our boy, but made him feel safe, seen, and cared for. We were incredibly lucky thanks to my wife’s quick action, we got him in, diagnosed, and on the path to recovery. I don’t normally share personal stuff like this. But going through it changed me. I have a whole new appreciation for how fragile life is and how heroic our medical professionals truly are. To everyone who reached out, prayed, checked in, or simply sent good energy our way…thank you. We felt all of it. And to this “nerdy” fantasy football community… you were there for us more than you know. I’ll never forget it. 🙏🏽❤️ Our little was released from the oncology unit, healing, and doing better each day. We’re blessed. God is Good.
