Sorry Doc totally disagree….many athletes who “move” during the careers have joints that are completely shot by the time they retire or yrs later after their careers ….many of the sports destroy their cartilage over yrs of micro trauma from running lifting weights…the actual sports themselves etc….your cartilage only has so many “lifts” or mileage

"Wear and tear" is the wrong story about joint pain. The farmers and ranchers who worked their bodies hardest for the longest are often the ones still moving freely in their seventies. The forty-year-olds with desk jobs and seed-oil diets are the ones limping. Joints are a metabolic story, not a mechanical one. Jill wrote up what we've learned, and what changed when I lost 50 pounds.

@pawluk_michael 1 1/4 miles at Belmont is an abomination…race starts on the turn…1 1/8 is a one turn race…keep it a 1 1/2…massive tradition

When the Belmont Stakes returns to Belmont Park in 2027 and returns to 12 furlongs(both mistakes IMO) the Preakness will snare a few more Derby runners whose connections aren’t interested in going 12f

@MarkZinno I don’t think I classify Phipps Stable as gutless…one of the most prestigious Old Money syndicate’s around

Translation: We were a 23-1 long-shot to win the Derby and don’t think we would win the shorter track against a horse like Renegade again. So we will preserve our horse’s health — AHEM! “Value” — and get the max we can for future stud fees. Gutless horse owners have killed this sport. They prioritize money over wins and legacy. She’s not the first, nor the last do this. It’s just destroyed this once insanely popular sport.

People must forget that Journalism ran in all three legs of the Triple Crown last year at a very high level and won the Preakness. It can be done, trainers just take the easy way out now.

Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will skip the Preakness Stakes and point toward the Belmont Stakes instead. That now makes it 3 of the last 5 Kentucky Derby winners to bypass the Preakness. What do you think of the decision? And is the Triple Crown as we know it officially dead?

Horse history. Secretariat had a heart that was roughly 3 times the size of an average horse’s heart. 18 of the 19 horses scheduled to run last Saturday are descendants of this racing legend.

#OnThisDay in 1973, Secretariat won the Kentucky Derby in 1:59 2/5, setting a track record that still stands. Picking up speed throughout the race, he ran each quarter mile faster than the previous one. Read about that historic day at Churchill Downs: secretariat.com/past-performan…

@bostonradio Sham was the unluckiest horse ever. Born the wrong year. His second place time is the third fastest time ever run in the Derby. Only Secretariat, Sham and Monarchos broke 2:00.
