The biggest danger of the current expensive diesel at Ksh 243 and cheap kerosene at Ksh 152 is the return of fuel adulteration which we had managed to largley eradicate. A huge price gap creates incentives to mix kerosene with diesel. This will hurt consumers and ENGINES.

The habit of Presidents issuing title deeds, as Ruto did at the Coast yesterday, should end. It is pure credit-claiming, backlog politics and patronage signalling that imply titles are a political favour rather than a legal entitlement. Under the Land Registration Act, title deeds are issued by the Registrar. Not the President.

In Kenya, President Ruto is also, in a manner of speaking, head of Parliament. That may sound like a misnomer in a presidential system of government. But that misnomer is the norm here.

Kenya plans to increase importation of Electricity from Ethiopia from the current 200MW to 400MW by December. This means KenGen will retain the lead in the share of Kenya's electricity market, Ethiopia will now be second, while Lake Turkana Windpower will be third.

The official presidential Fokker 70 ER apparently developed mechanical problems. Rather than fixing it at lower cost, the best solution was to hire a 3.2 million per hour jet to Baku and a 1.1 million per hour jet to Tanzania.
Papa Jay@papa_Jayuga

Singapore president went to Baku aboard a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ2), a luxury jet with executive boardrooms, private bedrooms, showers, lounges and Wi-Fi which costs taxpayers a whooping KSh 3.2 million per flight hour!!

@Kalasinga_ The Petroleum Act 2019 and the Petroleum (pricing) regulations 2022 should just be ammended now to reflect the reality that it is the President and the CSs and not EPRA anymore who determines Petroleum prices in Kenya.
