I have watched OVERBOARD countless times. Every generation in my family loved it. It is eminently rewatchable. The great Garry Marshall had a phenomenal run of romantic comedies, and this remains my favorite. There is some suspension of disbelief required, as even as a high schooler, I saw this scene and thought, "That ain't right." No matter how awful she is! But the film is so good-natured, the chemistry and comic timing is perfection, and an early script by yet another great, Leslie Dixon, is superb. How it gets us rooting for them and screaming, "Oh no!" when her husband shows up is an absolute magic trick. It is because I loved movies like this just so much that I never wanted to focus on one genre. Kurt Russell made USED CARS and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK back-to-back, so I wasn't surprised by his range at the time. But as I get older, I am more and more amazed by it. What a gift he and Goldie Hawn are in this film. I love this movie.

Why are all the shows looking so cheap? Because you're watching them instead of demanding better. Lol.

There is a growing belief across this town that Black entertainment can be cheaply produced but Black people will watch anything. So when we are fighting for shows and everything that comes with it, it's like... you don't need all that because they'll watch it regardless.

One thing about Amy Poehler’s show’s set design is that I wish it felt LESS like a coworking space and MORE like two friends hanging out. Get RID of that massive table and get a comfy sofa with a tiny table for the laptop! Also Kerry is so online, love her

Recommend a film from the 70s The Seven-Ups (1973) One of the unsung gems of the 1970’s. If gritty, NYC based cop films like The French Connection, Serpico, and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three are your thing then this should turn your crank.

The Oscars really missed the chance to award someone like Stellan Skarsgård, who gave one of the most powerful and subtle performances of the year. Plus, his speeches are pure love letters to cinema. Instead, we got… whatever.
