When people say hockey is a white sport. It’s so clear that none of them had indigenous friends, I know so much ppl who grew up playing the sport. There so much reservations who play it so much. Hockey was and is still a big part of my life despite never playing the sport myself

@noirsofia I think a lot of people just don't think of the fact that ESL folks will usually know most of the english words related to their main interest or job, even if those words seem complicated. you can even have a harder time w a simpler word simply cause you don't need to use it

thinking about how throughout the whole of episode 4 shane is just trying to get a damn ginger ale and it’s such a simple thing that he wants but it’s so difficult for him to get. people keep offering him alternatives or suggesting he should be drinking something alcoholic. but then ilya not only offers him ginger ale without having to be asked, but he went out ahead of time to buy it and was worried about whether it was cold enough.
if the ginger ale is a metaphor for the “real” shane - what we’re seeing is that the whole world wants a say in how he should act and present himself, and they all have suggestions on how he should change, but ilya not only accepts him as he is but goes out of his way to accommodate that

@dumbloueh @vincemoenty if there are no goals during OT, the game will go into shootouts where a single player from each team attempts a shot on goal alone on the ice. the one to get best of 3 wins the game. IF it's still tied it goes to sudden death shootouts – first to get a goal wins.

@dumbloueh @vincemoenty a game will never end in a tie. if it's tied at the end of the 3rd period, it will go into overtime, which is an extra period that will end once one of the teams scores. OT rules differ based on wheter it's a regular season game or a playoff game 1/2

@thebadbookworm @vincemoenty I personally feel like the rules themselves are at their core fairly simple but at the beginning they can be difficult to spot, especially if you're watching on a screen and not actually physically at a game
