@VishalBhargava5 @nikhilkamathcio @elonmusk Worth a watch for sure. Elon’s clarity of vision is remarkable, even if he doesn’t always articulate it perfectly. To me, his view that AI & robotics driven productivity gains would outpace global money supply and trigger deflation in under five years is absolutely mind-blowing.

I’m buying in a staggered manner. I’m not a finance person, so I can’t comment much on valuation risk, but I do know the company owns strong consumer-facing assets, enjoys a solid moat in social engagement, and hasn’t fully leveraged AI yet. I’m not sure about the extent of the upside, but over the long term, I see limited downside risk. Why aren’t you buying ? Do share your thesis too.

Meet arguably the last of the designer-builders in Mumbai - Vijay Wadhwa. He talks about Mumbai from 1969 when homes in Bandra were sold at ₹49/sqft. He’s survived many down-cycles including a phase in 2008 when prices went down by 50%. Homes will be affordable soon he says.

I’m holding my position for now. I think the stock could climb another 10% or more before it levels off. The recent ruling should also boost other companies, with Apple likely to benefit the most. At the same time, Google could see a rush of new revenue from new partnerships as firms look to collaborate and share insights.

It’s not a bad time to do some gain-taking with Google. But I won’t be. It’s not my style. The big gains are made by holding when the fundamentals tell you to hold. Google could gain a trillion in market cap and still be fair valued based on its fundamentals. The risk has been reduced, the future is more clear, and the valuation is still low 20 PE.

For this who may have missed it, this is obviously a reference to Duolingo. Google just recently announced language learning and live translation in Google translate app. For those not familiar with Duolingo at all, this comes across as concerning. And the stock is down today with that concern. History is full of smaller more specialized competitors doing well despite big tech competition. Spotify competes Apple, Amazon, and Google. Shopify competes with Amazon and is growing substantially. Intuit has competed with Microsoft for years and has won. Roblox won against Metas Horizons. And there are many more examples. My guess is that Duolingo is likely to end up the same way. The engagement mechanics that keep people hooked day in and day out don’t exist on Googles translation app. And I think it will be difficult to replicate that engagement. I could be wrong, but time will tell.
