@Devon_Eriksen_ How old are you and when did you do constitutional law at school? Supreme Court ruled in 1903 (Yamataya Vs Fisher) that non-citizens in US are entitled to due process before deportation. Feel free to go back and argue that but don't make out other people are being dumb/wrong!

Were you sick the day they taught constitutional law in law school? Are you somehow unable to read the literal black and white text of the document? Where exactly do you think the words "due process" come from? 5: "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law" 14: "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law" The words "due process" occur twice, but they never occur without the words "life, liberty, or property". Why do you think that is? Trick question. You don't think about why that is at all. You're not confused, you're not misled. You just an active agenda that involves flooding America with the sweepings of the third world, to make it easier to rule. So any way you can find to aggressively misinterpret the constitution, you will gleefully use. But for the rest of us, the whole idea of due process is that the state must apply customary legal proceedings before taking someone's property, imprisoning them, or executing them. So which one of those is a deportation, you overcooked spaghetti noodle? Is it a deprivation of life? It is it a deprivation of liberty? Is it a deprivation of property? Which one? It is none of these, of course. It's obviously not a deprivation of life. Or a deprivation of property. And it's not a deprivation of liberty, either. Because the deported do not remain in US custody at all, much less jail or prison. And don't bother arguing that they are being deprived of the liberty to remain in the United States, because there is no liberty to break the law. Preventing a crime, or interrupting one in progress, is not a deprivation of liberty. Or life. Or property. This is why the police department does not need to hold a hearing before removing a trespasser from your house. And also don't bother arguing that deportees are deprived of liberty while in ICE custody. This is true, but irrelevant, because the amount of due process required before arresting and detaining a suspect is well established. The police department does not need to hold a hearing before arresting someone, either. Simple common sense requires that we allow someone an opportunity to show evidence of US citizenship, or a green card, or a visa, if they have any of these things, but that's it, and that is already happening. If we were deporting US citizens, or people with valid visas, your lot would be screaming about that from every rooftop in America, and you aren't. No, you're just playing word games to try to hold us to the letter of laws that don't exist, while you do whatever the fuck you want. Our patience is not infinite. If you do not respect the rule of law, then sooner or later, we will have to stop respecting it to counter you. You don't want that. You really, really don't want that. Because the moment this administration decides it's the right moment to say "the court has made its ruling, now let them enforce it", then you have no cards left to play. You don't have any actual, physical, temporal power you can exercise. You're just a bunch of sociopathic theater kids. All you have is lawfare. The only reason you haven't been tarred and feathered and run out of DC on a rail is that we still have hope of getting rid of your illegal, traitorous, diabolical nonsense without dismantling the apparatus of law. Don't make us give up on that.
Rep. Greg Stanton@RepGregStanton

Nope. This important decision simply says you need to follow due process. We are not an authoritarian country.

Yes these are far right nationalist thugs literally storming the Cenotaph on Armistice Day. Suella Braverman whipped up this frenzy. I call on her to resign, immediately. Please RT if you do too.

@johnhfio Even if you pay same price drink for drink for NA you are normally making a massive monetary saving on a night because you have 4 drinks not 14! Most people compare prices to what they have paid - not what they could pay.

@johnhfio If I'm not drinking alcohol I still want something different to that which I'd drink during the day. Not to "blend in" but because the "ceremony" positively effects my mood. Not fan of mocktails but NA beer range now is great (although sometimes just a tonic water suffices).

Honest question, why would anyone buy a “non alcoholic” cocktail and spend $16-25 dollars when they could just get a coke or a lemonade?

Don't want to be a killjoy but which idiot at @TfL thought this was good idea? I've travelled in London for decades and was confused when I pulled into Bond St. How the hell are tourists or visitors meant to know it's an advert?! Revenue over basic UX ianvisits.co.uk/articles/tube-…

@tobiasgavin @mrjamesob He works in real estate. He wants everyone else to move people back to the office as he's probably sitting on a massive liability of expiring leases on half empty offices!

@mrjamesob The companies he refers to don’t like the fact that staff are as productive in a hybrid work environment as FT in the office. They want the old way back where presenteeism outweighed productivity, where you have to be seen to be working

I have a confession !   Last season @Heineken asked me and @jillscottjs8 to swap Twitter accounts as part of a social experiment to see if men and women are treated differently online . What happened was unfortunately predictable ! An important reminder that gender bias should have no place in our game . #fresherfootball #Ad

This isn't a resignation statement; it's a temper tantrum. And its central claim is untrue. Johnson says he was "forced out anti-democratically" by a "kangaroo court". So let's remind ourselves of the process from which he has chosen to run away... 🧵 bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…
