Accessibility to quality healthcare services indubitably is one of the major challenges faced by many African countries. Where it is minimally accessible, affordability becomes a subsequent problem.

@DrJoeAbah Standard and regulations are sacrificed at the altar of favoritism and partisan politics. Oftentimes to the detriment of human lives and health.

NAFDAC was one of the organisations I studied for my PhD between 2009 and 2012.
I had the privilege of interviewing the late, great, Prof Dora Akunyili. I remember the interview as if it happened yesterday because I interviewed her at home and she insisted on cooking breakfast for my driver while he waited.
In 2003, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development reported that 80% of drugs on sale in Lagos were fake.
The incidence of fake drugs is officially reported to have reduced from 41% in 2002, through to 16% in 2006, to 10% in 2011. It was expected to fall to 8% by 2013.
In opinion ratings in Nigeria, NAFDAC was rated to be the most effective government agency in Nigeria for 3 years in a row. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime also rated Nigeria as West Africa's most effective drug control country, and commended the work of NAFDAC.
Fast forward to 2022, NAFDAC came out to say that the prevalence of fake drugs is 15%, not 70% as some researchers had claimed.
Even at 15%, you would have noticed a retrogression from the 10% it was in 2011.
And even if NAFDAC’s 2022 claim that fake drugs are at 15% is correct, what about its other roles to regulate food, drinks, water and cosmetics?
I suspect that public perception of prevalence of counterfeit food, drinks and cosmetics would be very near the 80% it was exactly 20 years ago.
I study public governance and pockets of effectiveness in dysfunctional States. To see NAFDAC retrogress in this way seriously challenges any notion that islands of excellence can withstand the general sea of dysfunction for very long, without a deliberate effort by successive administrations to deliberately seek out and appoint the same kind of person that first turned around the organization in the first place.
Some functions should be immune from politics and patronage. End.

Recently, I met with the National Assembly Lawmakers from Abia State in Abuja.
The meeting was aimed at fostering a good working relationship between the Abia State Government and our National Assembly lawmakers, irrespective of party ties. The lawmakers collectively emphasised the need for collaboration that would see to the speedy development of the state and therefore pledged their unflinching support to our administration in building a united and progressive state.
Like I had promised earlier, I will continue to support every one of them to succeed in their legislative assignments.
Present at the meeting were Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Benjamin Kalu (Deputy Speaker), Hon. Ibeh Okwara Osonwa, Hon. Amobi Ogah, Hon. Obi Aguocha, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, Hon. Emeka Nnamani, and Hon. Munachim Alozie.

@StFreakingKezy Can I ask which group of voters seem right in their decision based on the reality. South Easters didn't vote for Buhari not because he is a northerner but rather they rightfully thought he hadn't the capacity.
If you doubt this, check the number of votes they gave Umaru Musa
English

My South East brothers and sisters I want us to look ourselves in the face and agree on something.
In 2015, South East region gave APC a total number of 198,248 votes with PDP having the highest number of votes from the region yet APC won the election.
In 2019,South East region still gave APC a total number of 403,968 votes and PDP had the highest number of votes from the region yet APC went ahead to win the election.
In 2023,South East region gave APC a total number of 138,347 but gave LABOUR PARTY the highest number of votes being 1,952,998
yet APC won the election.
Here is my point, Most political parties won't be looking towards our South East region when it's election time because of the way we play our politics of "PUTTING ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET"?
Note: 2015-2019 (PDP) 2023 (LP).
In 2027 which is in 4 years time,Will we play the same kind of politics again?
YOU CANNOT KEEP REPEATING THE SAME THING,THE SAME WAY AND STILL BE EXPECTING SAME RESULT.
This is my 10 kobo input.

@DrJoeAbah I agree, people would only pull the gun triggers if they are available. Guns got no other purpose aside destruction
English

@gimbakakanda At least he left something close to a nation. He was a president of Nigeria unlike what we have seen under Buhari. He got his shortcomings but he was seemingly well- intentioned
English

I think most of the whitewashing narratives of Yar’adua’s presidency are an attempt, especially by a particular partisan group, to cast Buhari as his evil opposite. For others, it’s probably a well-intentioned rosy introspection of the past. It’s the same Yar’adua’s government that got Ribadu and el-Rufai hounded that they had to flee Nigeria. Death makes us humanize people, which isn’t bad, but history isn’t a collection of our sentiments.
Even the election that brought Yar’adua to power was, for many, the worst we’ve ever witnessed because voting was ongoing at some polling units when he was declared winner. But, to be fair to him, he too acknowledged the malpractices that brought him to power, and the rest is history.
Olúṣeun Onìgbìndé@seunonigbinde
I can never understand the revisionism about Yar'adua. Did we forget that he didn't properly handover or the reversal of refineries sale? Well, just reduce pump price, all is forgiven. The bar is....
English

@DrJoeAbah One of numerous examples. Thanks @DrJoeAbah for appreciating him beyond payment

@chukkysmiles_ @lollypeezle If you understand business deeply, you would know it's an issue. Pray thee Adeboye grants you permission to sell even for a week, take it from me, you would be shocked at the result.
English

He is the son of Adeboye.
RCCG members are more than 10million.
A wristband is about 200 Naira.
If he sells at one Holy Ghost Convention, he will make millions.
Baba, that's not a Grass to Grace story.

“I made my first million selling rubber wristband” - Leke Adeboye
English

@Obiora_14 @lollypeezle He downplayed his hustle by saying ‘rubber bands’ without paying attention to the ready-made market he tapped into. But again those who interviewed him are also to be blamed for the clickbait. Essentially, when leverage and privilege were utilized its only worthy to mention them.
English

@legend_082 @SaharaReporters That's how bad it has become.
English

When you go to search for a decent job, you’re asked for your degree certificate and grade. Here we have a one time rusticated student, who was expelled for religious extremism, getting all the media attention and foolishly suggesting who should be the next senate president. I wonder why people waste their time educating themselves when they could work their way up as career politicians without any educational qualification.
