The ST1 VHS Tape version adds more to the top but takes away from the sides, based on the aspect ratio of the cameras used. For the first three seasons, the VHS tapes will be pretty much the same as the originals. But for seasons 4 and 5, we'll get a lot more footage

only by upscaling the footage instead of opening the frame tho, and the average person would just drop it in crop the edges and get a result w terrible framing, what ST did has clearly been done slowly w full intentionality. every single shot is re-framed FOR a new aspect ratio

@mariwix_ I’m not sure, but I wanted to note the connection. They chose that day for a reason, and it’s the same day as a major event in American civil rights history. Now ofc, this isn’t saying at all that MLK jr is *part* of the arg, but that parts of it might be inspired by him.

@RWBCat77 Well yes… that’s exactly what I said. But because of the camera used to film seasons 4 and 5, there will be more room to expand on the top and bottom of the screen. More than the season 1 footage. Put a 4:3 box on these images, and you’ll see. Or you could just use your eyes

@pass2thelibrary "Adds more to the top but takes away from the sides" dawg its called 4:3 ratio. Thats the format for vhs. Obviously the vhs version of s1 is gonna be 4:3. They shouldnt have even released it because half the viewers have never touched a vhs. It reads very ignorant

@pass2thelibrary Brother in christ its 4:3 aspect ration. Youve obviously never watched TV before 2000. 4:3 was standard for 35 years. Wide-screen(16:9 ratio) didnt become standard until 2008 when the government mandated broadcast to switch to digital over analog. Zero concept of tv history
