Rivalries aside, taking my Pompey hat off and speaking as a completely honest neutral you’ve got to say that the EFL have looked at the evidence there and delivered a verdict that the most level headed fan would say is the absolute funniest outcome humanly possible.

I've got no skin in this other than - and this matters to me! - as a football fan. It seems to me that, far from being harshly treated, @SouthamptonFC have got off lightly. The evidence they admitted to shows a concerted, planned and repeated operation to spy on opponents. And that's just the three they've fessed up to. It's surely a lot more. Frankly being removed from the play-offs and a 4 point deduction seems lenient.

@mattletiss7 I don't think you can blame the EFL for not clearly stating the sanctions as it really should be applied based on the severity of the breach and what each clubs stand to gain from clearly cheating. Also, they may have been swayed by contrails and some of them may be aliens....

When the efl made the rule change after bielsa was caught spying, wouldnt it have been sensible to put alongside that what the punishment would be if the crime was committed. That would’ve saved them a lot of trouble. I think it’s important that the punishment fits the crime btw
