An LP share in the fund is a security and therefore the BUIDL tokens have transfer restrictions, etc. Fund manager (BlackRock) The fund manager and counterparty for the investors in the fund is BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with $9 trillion in assets under management. SEC registered transfer agent (Securitize LLC) The fund’s transfer agent and “onchain administrator” is Securitize LLC, an asset tokenization platform started in 2017. BlackRock is an investor in @Securitize. Blockchain (Ethereum) The platform on which the BUIDL fund’s LP shares are issued and managed. Securitize manages and monitors the cap table based on the underlying investment traffic and issues the earned yield monthly (as new BUIDL tokens) to investors pro rata. Stablecoin issuer (Circle) The fund’s primary stablecoin of choice, USDC, is issued by Circle, a US based stablecoin issuer that’s going public in the near future. BlackRock is an investor in @circle. Stablecoin (USDC) The fund will soon enable onchain investments and redemptions with the USDC stablecoin. Today, both investments and redemptions in the fund are done in USD, to and from Securitize’s bank accounts, and only the fund’s cap table is mirrored onchain. Yield instrument (Treasury Bill) The instrument that the US government uses to borrow funds from investors. The yield earned is the interest that the US government pays to the T-Bill holders. Borrower (US Treasury Department) The Department of the Treasury manages federal finances by collecting taxes and paying bills and by managing currency, government accounts and public debt.
