Was a starter at a crowded public course during the Tiger Boom (97-06). Had to pair up everyone on the weekends and 90% people were immediately pissed. By the end of the round, almost always resulted in good experiences/numbers being shared. Did have one guy tell me he was in litigation with the couple I tried to match him with. I said, "What better way to settle your differences than a 6-hour round with new friends?" Also had one round end with an ambulance called after a guy smashed his Ping Zing 9-iron over a dude's back. True story.

Today I played a $40 golf course as a single and got paired with 3 random golfers. Had a blast. I love doing this and can’t recommend it enough. Ted: Senior Designer on World of Warcraft —-> early retirement. Rob: Drank a large Modelo that wiped him out. Currently getting “screwed over by several contractors.” Neil: Jolly old English lad. 14 months sober.

@patrickjkoenig My wife and I always book 2 spots and usually get paired with randos. Over the last year that's happened probably 75 times and I've enjoyed the other people every time except two occasions with some dude bros. Solid good to bad ratio.

@themikedove Every once in a while you strike out.. However, my best stories are from those rounds.

I took my friend Vence on a trip around @MonarchBeachGL yesterday.
