Government finances are not like a business or a household. 1925. **1925** Why did we ever believe Thatcher? Why didn't her household budget lie die with her? Why do so many economists still believe that fallacy?

Our economic system is broken. Climate crisis accelerating. Inequality deepening. Public trust crumbling. Wealth concentrates while governments scramble to fix what markets can't do, rather than shape them from the outset. Presenting my new book The Common Good Economy live at @HowToAcademy—a reimagining of economics and a manifesto for a future economy that serves people and planet. How we achieve collective goals—through participation, reciprocity and reward-sharing—matters as much as what those goals are. 2 June | 19:00 | St Martin-in-the-Fields | Ticket link below

@giulio_mattioli It's not required to drive at those speeds and there are ongoing discussions within Germany about scrapping the unrestricted sections. Would not be surprised if they do bring in speed limits like everywhere else.

@PaladinJew @JohnHundeslit But once the US leaves, there is no war with Iran. Just a set of diplomatic discussions between adults. The US is thinking that the EU has to continue the war that the US started. Why? This is nonsense. The EU is not at war with Iran.

@JohnHundeslit The US doesn't need their help to open it. But it wants to see the Europeans taking it seriously since it's more of a core strategic interest for them than it is for the US.

Britain and Europe are shamefully weak, but the United States desperately needs their help, and can't possibly keep the Strait of Hormuz open without their help. Have I got that right?

@lysdahllars London already has congestion charging now. With a fully integrated public transport system. Carrying millions of people a day. Can we stop the share price pumping and get a bit real please? Tesla minicabs will replace, eventually, some driver minicabs. That's about it.

@lysdahllars Oh, they probably will at some point. The issue I have is the perception that anyone with a Tesla will be able to let it drive off at random and do taxi work ad-hoc. And everyone will stop using public transport and use these instead. That's completely preposterous.

@Rix6145 @PolitlcsGlobal But they are the reason it's closed. They go away and the rest can just sit down and sort out a diplomatic solution to something the US created. Epic failure by the US and Israel.

@MorriseyMi6568 @PolitlcsGlobal No one is going to bother with fighting. A nice cup of tea and what can we do to help will suffice. Only two countries are at war with Iran. The rest aren't.

@PolitlcsGlobal That whole Hormuz list — France, Germany, Japan, SK, plus dozens of tiny nations like Marshall Islands & Kosovo can't match the USA alone. #1 Global Firepower. $900B defense budget 11 supercarriers (more capable ones than most of the world combined). God help us all.

@PolitlcsGlobal @Helen07101981 The bit that everyone is missing is apart from Israel and the US, no one else is at war with Iran. They don't need to fight their way in or out. They just need to sit down with Iran over a nice cup of tea and ask politely.

@lysdahllars Currently it won't either. It's the point that everyone is missing. Taxis are not a total free for all. In no city are they going to allow random cars be random taxis. They don't now and they won't in future. Insurance, licence, inspections. All controlled with fees

@graeme_cobb Sweet spot for range and size. Kia's are on the expensive side these days but nearly new or ex-lease, these are going to be in high demand. Brilliant range of EVs now and solid design across the different cars. Big thumbs up from me at least.

I completely agree with this point. A successful economy is where the state and private enterprise work together towards a known end goal and Industrial strategy.

@TheEVuniverse More HUGE cars when what we really need is what Ford were leaders in, small cars like the Focus and the Fiesta. As always with Ford, entirely missing the point of why they exist.

@redgolf99 @dorfman_p You are actively re-fueling wayyyyy longer then I am. I have been EV driving for over 5 years after 35 years petrol. EV charging is a shorter and much more convenient activity.

@redgolf99 @dorfman_p But I don't. At home I plug in and go indoors. The equipment is doing things which I don't care about. On the road I plug in and wander off, shopping, toilet, tea, whatever. Again the equipment is doing stuff but so am I. My time actually doing things to charge is seconds.

UK now has nearly twice as many public EV chargers as petrol pumps. More than 118,000 public charge points are now available nationwide compared with around 60,800 fuel pumps. independent.co.uk/cars/electric-…
