Remember when Eby called a Northern BC pipeline "fictional?" Turns out that a full month before the BC-Alberta northern pipeline MOU, the Eby govt was already sending memos to "mount the counter case" and begin "mobilizing opponents" to the fictional, non-existent project.

I had a convo today (with a municipal councillor, no less) where BC’s 5th consecutive credit downgrade was brushed off as a nothing burger, just the opinion of financial firms. That misses the point, because this isn’t about who’s saying it. It’s about what it means. But it did get me thinking that we need to be clear about the actual impact for real people. In simple terms: lenders see our province as higher risk, so we pay more interest to borrow. And when interest costs go up, more of your tax dollars go to servicing debt… and less goes to the things people actually rely on: healthcare, schools, infrastructure, childcare, public safety, etc Every dollar spent on interest is a dollar not spent on you. That’s not politics…that’s called math. And my point to my colleague was simple: if you care about strong public services, and especially if you want to see more of them as I do, this should matter to you most.

@1cyber_troll @PierrePoilievre Agree! I give Carns total props. He came on the scene and within 90 days wiped out a 20 point lead. total master-class... you can never take that away from him/his team. But, overall it's been downhill ever since... peace!

@pattersonbrands @PierrePoilievre You’re entitled to your opinion but one guy did 2 podcast to show his “depth” the other overcame a 25 point deficit and gave a speech the whole world still talks about. Give it some thought…

WOW!! First Rogan, now Diary of a CEO. @PierrePoilievre is killing it on these long-form high-depth interviews. Could our PM Carney fair as well in these formats? I'd love to see the contrast. I think Canada made a massive mistake 13 months ago, do these interviews confirm it, or deny the mistake?

Could this be the next Prime Minister of Canada? Recently, I’ve been finding myself up all night trying to figure out what the hell is going on in the world and if we're on the verge of World War III… So, today I’m sitting down with Pierre Poilievre who is the leader of Canada's Conservative Party and Leader of the Opposition. He became one of the youngest MPs elected to Canadian parliament and has spent 2 decades fighting for working class people and fair opportunities. Pierre told me that he’s on a mission to make Canada the freest and most affordable place in the world, and he’s not stopping until that happens. To give you more context on his background, Pierre was adopted at birth by two school teachers who struggled financially and ended up losing multiple homes which meant that they had to start again from nothing several times throughout his childhood. That experience shaped what he believes about work, money, and fairness. When speaking about his parents, he told me that they taught him that it doesn’t matter where you come from. It matters what you do. That belief is now at the centre of everything he’s trying to change.

I don't think this do what they think it will do.... but kudos. Wouldn't re-instating the Municipal Auditor office accomplish something similar? I'd prefer to have the finances watched instead of (or in addition to) the conduct but ?!?

NEW - BC is setting minimum standards for parental leave for elected municipal politicians and school trustees. New legislation allows minimum of 26 weeks of leave, without disqualifying them for office for missing meetings.

Tend to agree. Still, if he was a leader, @MarkJCarney would step up and do it. We, the voters, are owed the contrast. In the short elec Elbows-up cycle late 2024/early '25, Carney obvs killed it. Made mincemeat of the CPC. It happened so fast, I don't think we realised till it was too late. Now: any voter that thinks he's still the answer is delusional...

You can’t fix B.C.’s broken budget without fixing our broken government sector. Right now, the government is hiking taxes and borrowing billions to feed a government sector that’s bigger than we need and completely unaffordable. My latest in @KelownaCourier

B.C.'s PST expansion to professional services is a policy our province cannot afford. It will raise input costs, discourage investment, and weaken our competitive position. Our President and CEO shares more in @BIVnews's article. #biv #bceconomy #pst 🔗bit.ly/4c37MU1

I can’t even anymore… How many embarrassing Canadian moments have gone viral this week alone? An NDP convention consumed by ideological posturing, where purity tests matter more than practical solutions for Canadians. An awards show, the Junos, that felt less like a celebration of music and more like a publicly funded service announcement, pushing messaging instead of showcasing artists. And now, in the middle of a fatal aviation tragedy, the national conversation shifts from pilot deaths to language politics. At some point, you have to ask: What are we actually prioritizing? Because this is not a distraction anymore. It’s a pattern. We are choosing optics over reality. Narratives over facts. Performative debates over serious issues that actually affect people’s lives. And if we can’t even focus on loss of life without turning it into a political talking point, then something is deeply off. Not just with our institutions, but with us. Because if we can’t tell what matters anymore, we shouldn’t be surprised when nothing does.

CFIB - British Columbia
Today, 7,092 BC small business owners had their voices heard at the @BCLegislature through CFIB’s petition on the rising cost of doing business in BC. 📢 Small businesses are doing their part. Government is making it harder. Rising taxes, mounting costs and weak relief are leaving owners to carry the load. Thank you MLA @gavindew for presenting the petition. #bcpoli Watch👇

NEW - Carney & Ford are removing GST on new homes and cutting DCC in Ontario. In BC? Port Moody staff just recommended a 167% increase in DCC’s, making new housing unviable. Metro Vancouver pre-sales are 95% below the 10-year average. Check out the letter from Wesgroup. #bcpoli
