A passer-by raised the alarm. A @vicsesnews volunteer with just the right equipment happened to be the next on scene and got Jake out within 7 minutes.

The verbal argument escalated, a shot was fired and a vehicle was rammed. Police say three offenders carjacked another vehicle nearby and remain on the run.

The roof of the Kew Recreation Centre has caved in. Fortunately, it happened overnight so no-one was underneath it when it came down. The @Boroondara council planned to open the facility mid-2023 but that date will clearly have to be pushed back. More on @3AW693

One resident, Sharlene (left) told me she doesn’t want to return. “I can’t. If I hear heavy rain again, my anxiety is going to go through the roof because I’ll be thinking I’m going to get flooded again”.

There were more than 100 residents staying at the relief centre on Thursday last week. That was down to 11 last night but more than a dozen are staying at the Mickleham quarantine hub, dozens more staying with friends & family. It will likely take months for homes to be repaired

I’ve spent the morning in Seymour chatting with locals, emergency services personnel and the army of volunteers involved in the flood clean-up. It’s such a cliche but the community really is rallying behind those affected by this crisis. @3AW693
