For context, Gianluca Okon-Engstler is one of the best players in Europe of his age. He is starting regularly for Club Brugge's B team who play in Belgium's second tier. He is the only player in this Italian squad to have played a professional match.
Okon-Engstler is a defensive midfielder who is able to control matches with almost effortless simplicity. He is technically outstanding and his choice of pass is consistently the right one - which is not surprising given how proficient he is at scanning. He has grown physically over the last two years and is now an effective defensive presence too.
