Do you have questions for Ofgem (or me) on energy bills? The Ofgem boss is joining me on this week's @itvMLshow, the eve before the energy Price Cap announcement. A 7%ish fall is likely, though fixes are far cheaper. If you've Qs pls suggest em by reply here or email the team at martinlewis@itv.com PS IF POSSIBLE PLS SAY WHETHER Q IS FOR ME OR OFGEM BOSS

That was a disaster. Newcastle have conceded 15 goals in their last five games. They can't defend, their attacking play is laboured and lacks any sort of fluency. They are in spiral of low confidence and out of form players. These are difficult and testing times #NUFC

Pretty clear what's happened - Jenrick concluded there won't be a vacancy post May given Kemi's improved standing. For some in SW1 - though not as many as the public think - it's all about the game of thrones, not principle or loyalty to those who campaigned and voted for you
Kate Ferguson@kateferguson4

6: Team Kemi believe Robert Jenrick was going to defect in the next couple of weeks. They think he was planning the date to inflict "maximum damage" on the Tories ahead of the local elections this May, and just as the party was starting to recover a little bit in the polls.

UPDATE: ·EDF and OVO have now commited to passing on 'the full savings in full' but not how or when they'll do it (which is needed, for transparency). We're contacting all other firms to find out their stances. I'm pleased the pressure we've been putting on is paying dividends.

News: Eon has joined Octopus and British Gas in saying it will pass on the full 1 April 2026 cut in energy bills to all customers, including those on fixes. 1. This is the £150/yr off average bills from the Budget, coming from shifting some policy costs off energy bills and onto general taxation, and cutting the ECO scheme. 2. The cut to the price cap will be via a 3.5p/kWh (c.13%) reduction in electricity prices and a 0.35p/kWh (c.6%) reduction in gas prices, if everything else remains equal. 3. Everything else is unlikely to remain equal, as the April price cap was expected to rise, so the actual pound-in-your-pocket cuts will be a little less than this, currently around a 6% reduction in April's Price Cap over January's is predicted. 4. Eon and Octopus have indicated this will be done by simply cutting all customers’ rates, including those on fixes, by this amount on 1 April. Updated: British Gas has now said it will also do it this way. 5. The government has told me it is pushing all firms to follow suit, as it should. The key for me, though, is how it will be implemented and making sure it is transparent. I believe a straight cut on all bills on 1 April is the cleanest and best way to do it.

@MartinSLewis I'm sure your aware but utilitta don't charge standing orders. I've paid £10 on my gas in the last 9 months. No charges for being connected at all. Utilitta are the only company doing this I believe.

Some saying about the new lower Standing Charge tariffs that "lowering standing charges would make no difference, as they'd just put it on the unit rate." That is true, except the 'no difference' bit. Lower users, where the standing charge is a substantial portion of the bill, would benefit & save. Higher users should avoid the low standing charge tariffs. So I am in favour of adding this to the tariff choice (indeed I was the one pushing this). My problem is that doing it outside of the Price Cap mechanism, means firms could substantially inflate unit rates beyond just incorporating the cost of lowering Standing Charges. Plus by making it a switchable tariff rather than a price cap tariff, we deny those vulnerable customers (think those with dementia etc) who rarely engage in the switching market an opportunity to get lower Standing Charges.

Today I argued for raising inheritance tax, a tax on a hand out, unearned wealth, in exchange for cuts in income tax-a tax on work. This has riled up lots of people on here. But I think it’s essential to make capitalism function. Watch my argument in full. youtu.be/YSruUZBxlrE?si…

The more I read, the more I think it is the rest of Reform leadership that have questions to answer over their behaviour
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10

This is important. I want to break down the Reform statement about me in full, and show you how it is maliciously concocted to drag my name through the mud with zero credible evidence against me. All because I dared to pose a few reasonable questions of Reform’s leadership. “It is with regret that we feel obligated to disclose that the party received complaints from two female employees about serious bullying in the offices of the Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth, Rupert Lowe.” These allegations are not against me personally, but the ‘office’. Both of these employees only raised their complaints once disciplinary proceedings had started against both of them for serious offences. They both admitted to these offences. No complaints whatsoever before. Parliamentary HR were involved in every step of the way, and full parliamentary process was followed. One of the individuals later dropped her appeal. They were Parliamentary employees, not Reform employees. “One worked in his Parliamentary office, the other in his Constituency office, we understand complaints have been made to Parliamentary authorities.” I have heard nothing from the Parliamentary authorities. Again, HR have been fully supportive every step of the way. I have a huge amount of evidence to prove it. “Evidence was provided to us of workplace bullying, the targeting of female staff who raised concerns, and evidence of derogatory and discriminatory remarks made about women, including reference to a perceived disability.” I did NOT make these remarks. The comments mentioned refer to a different member of staff's remarks, vindictively leaked in private WhatsApp messages by one of the individuals who was going through the disciplinary process. She resigned before that process could finish. Are MPs now responsible for mildly inappropriate comments that their staff make in private conversations? Reform has deliberately conflated these accusations to make me look guilty. Again, there is NO credible evidence against me of any bullying whatsoever. “We feel we have a duty of care to all our staff, whether employed directly or indirectly. Accordingly, we appointed an independent King’s Counsel to conduct an investigation into the veracity of these complaints. To date, Mr. Lowe has yet to cooperate with this investigation.” False. I have spoken with the KC at length, on multiple occasions. I have asked for credible evidence against me, none has been provided. To say I have not cooperated is an outright lie, and my legal team are on this. “In addition to these allegations of a disturbing pattern of behaviour, Mr. Lowe has on at least two occasions made threats of physical violence against our Party Chairman. Accordingly, this matter is with the Police.” This is total nonsense. In December, Zia and I had a robust debate. We moved on, or so I thought. This was then reported to the police the day after I raised concerns about the party leadership, months after the event. What a disgraceful waste of police time. Weaponising the process to blacken my name. “Reform stands for the highest standards of conduct in public life, and we will apply these standards without fear nor favour, including within our own party.” So we are clear - it is now Reform policy to remove MPs if staff members make vexatious complaints? Even whilst they are going through a disciplinary procedure following serious offences? Before any investigation is even allowed to start? Do they want to go down this path? Really? All of this, and more, is with my legal team. I will not tolerate these falsehoods. It is a vindictive witch hunt, all because I asked awkward questions of Nigel.
