@GarethDennis I lived there for 18 months - it’s more diverse and working class than this result probably suggests, and I dare say 75% of people not voting (because we don’t make it easy enough) had some sway on the result. Wouldn’t know which way it would go in an ‘all out’ council election.

Having done jury service three times now, this is overdue, sensible and proportionate. Trial by jury must remain, but not for a year-long trial for complex fraud involving cryptocurrency, nor is it appropriate and proportionate for the theft of a Mars bar.

I have a medically increased risk of skin cancer and sunburn, but even for healthy people, sunscreen is a necessity. I wouldn't be surprised if this were cost-neutral, by taking pressure off the NHS. Either way, this change would clearly be in the public good.

Sunscreen is currently classified in the UK as a “cosmetic product”, which means that it is subject to 20% VAT. Wearing sunscreen is key to preventing sunburn, one of the major causes of skin cancer. It's not cosmetic: it's essential.
