I don’t think I’ll ever bring myself to play Marathon out of sheer spite and hatred for it killing one of the most consequential and inspirational games of my entire life.
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

@paulrlma @IcyHorizonz @DanniOsu A game having servers doesn't mean it has zero client-authorative mechanics. Literally every game relies on the client to some degree or another.

@hakimyoung4 @PaulTassi They should have said that then. But I’m all out of good will to believe that they would even consider a Destiny 3.

the fury that's about to come down on Marathon, which has been underperforming Destiny 2 in its worst content draught in history

@paulrlma @MilyaBee @RudeOnion @callanable What year? Mine bought their starter house in the middle of no where for 40k in 1977. Factoring inflation that was 228k in today's dollars. I bought my first house for almost the same price 2 years ago. Learn how inflation works.

no matter how reasonable the suggestion, people who need to be victims will find a way.

@bowtiedgerman Yea too bad most Gen Zers can’t afford their own place. So they don’t have space to buy in bulk and keep at home (roommates will consume). Cooking at home doesn’t work when people are living with different randos every year.

@PhiloSynthetic @SpaceKoala Automation is only good if it can take out a laborer otherwise it’s expensive and you still pay a persons salary or generally slower than a person doing it

@paulrlma @SpaceKoala Obviously. The point is you can do something more productive instead while the autonomous pallet jack does the task simultaneously.

@MilyaBee @RudeOnion @callanable Boomers bought houses on the cheap and now are taking advantage of a housing crisis to profit hundreds of thousands of the newer generation then tell them they don’t work hard enough or save enough. Sure not everyone was well off but more people are worse off now then then.

@paulrlma @RudeOnion @callanable So, since your family was privileged, everyone in their generation was the same? How about Black folks? Life was super easy for them, too?

@paulrlma @RudeOnion @callanable My boomer parents and their siblings ALL rented when they got married and moved out. Some of them still rent. This idea that all boomers bought homes when they were in their early 20s is nonsense.
