It will be their third pay rise since Labour came to power A Government source said: "Our armed forces are the very best of Britain. They’re being called upon more often as the world gets more dangerous and unstable, so it’s only right they get a pay rise that reflects that" Story: mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

@HonestHalo It's because he's a bumbling charisma vacuum, who is blindly leading this country into simultaneous energy, military, immigration and policing crises. I acknowledge he was handed a terrible legacy by the Tories, but he's the man in charge now, and he's blown it. He needs to go.

Why is it so rare to hear people say they’re proud of Keir Starmer? The UK economy is showing clear signs of stabilisation under Labour, yet praise remains quiet. Is it classic British cynicism? Or are we simply not used to a Prime Minister who focuses on the day job instead of chasing headlines?🇬🇧

@SamMarch3 @JoeBlog377719 @SirApexTv County courts deal with civil matters. Unpaid bills, etc. This incident was a criminal matter, so it will be dealt with by a Magistrates Court, whose bigger, more powerful cousin is a Crown Court. No way a Crown Court will trouble itself with a trifle like this, though.

@JoeBlog377719 @SirApexTv The magistrate will likely be on the side of the police. The county court may, however, be more reasonable.

Beware the empathy exploit. Empathy is good and right when thought through (deep), but can be deadly to civilization when simply stimulus-response (shallow). For example, releasing a repeat violent offender may feel good at first (shallow empathy for the criminal), but it is wrong to do so when that person will go on to hurt or murder innocent victims, as there should be deep empathy for future victims.

@InspGadgetBlogs I think Streeting and Milliband would each break like soggy KitKats with the application of the tiniest of pressure by Trump. Rayner would resist, but she'd do it so obnoxiously that she'd achieve the near-impossible, in that she'd hand him the moral high ground.

@Keir_Starmer You are banning political opponents. You are ending jury trials. You are stifling free speech. You tried to stop the local elections. You are an authoritarian, an enemy to democracy.

We will block far right agitators from traveling to Britain this weekend for a march designed to confront and provoke our diverse capital city. We will not allow people to come to the UK, threaten our communities and spread hate on our streets.

@anon_opin Good. Fewer civil servants is a good thing. Having too many is an impediment to the efficiency of the public sector and diverts money from frontline public services. We should lay half of them off.

Civil servant here. If Farage wins the next GE, he'll call us all back to the office 5 days a week. The CS will then be on the verge of collapse, as thousands of people will either retire immediately or quit, due to the removal of WFH. Cheap optics will meet reality.

@SydneyLWatson You are witnessing the demolition of the two big parties in real-time. Reform are slaying it on the right. The looney left are rallying around the Greens. If the next General Election follows these lines, it'll be the biggest political change in the UK for a hundred years.

Something I’ve always found curious is that recovering a stolen phone could almost be the perfect bit of work for the police. Extremely easy to solve given the tracker usually pinpointing exact location. Extremely high customer satisfaction to be had if retrieved given how much of a pain it is to lose a phone. And yet as we know the police largely don’t bother with them 🤷🏽‍♂️

I know this is unpopular, but it will always be unattractive for a grown man to play video games. Some women might be understanding or pretend like they don’t care that you spend hours playing, but they do. It is extremely unattractive to women and will never not be. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@ClarkeMicah I joined the police in 2007 and I left in 2021. In that time, the administrative burden approximately doubled. I dread to think what an officer from '95 would make of the amount of paperwork that would be expected of him in 2026.

'The Met had roughly 27,000 sworn officers in 1995; it now has 33,000. So what are they doing? They no longer control the traffic and have long since abandoned the streets. Why can't they sort out an open-and-shut assault within 24 hours?' thetimes.com/life-style/cel…
