@bensadler12 8 days from Bristol City away and this squad is lacking EFL experience In key areas as it stands fans are starting to worry we don't look like scoring and at the back we are shipping goals all be it against superior opponents but at this rate Bristol City away will

@paulwjames @Footiespr5687 @ribbonpodcast When we didn't sign players from non-league, it wasn't good. When they sign talented players from non-league, it's still not good enough. 🤷 A club like Walsall need to sign young players who can develop and then sell on for profit. Usually those players are found in Non-League.

@Footiespr5687 @ribbonpodcast This season? Yes possibly true, but why get excited by these signings? I'm sure the lad is decent and is live him to be a Scott Houghton, John Hodge or even Jeff Peron, but I remain sceptical about the whole recruitment strategy TBH.

@JRainer08 @ribbonpodcast Agreed, I hope so too. Just really fed up of still being in this league. I'll still get behind them and really hot the team is successful - at least they will prove I know nothing about football!!

@JRainer08 @ribbonpodcast The Locker improvements could wait. Get a successful team first then improve infrastructure. Now we're steering a new cycle so need to be patient AGAIN. I'm running out of it now.

@JRainer08 @ribbonpodcast Yeah I see that. I think after the disappointment of losing at Wembley, we really should've pushed on to ensure we didn't have the season we had last season. I know the funding is different but Salford are doing what we should've.

@JRainer08 @ribbonpodcast How were we playing at the time? Not difficult to shine against us last season. I really hope I'm wrong, I just want us to get out of the league but I'm not inspired by any of the signings TBH.

@paulwjames @ribbonpodcast One reason might be cuz he rocked up to the Bescot back end of the last season and was one of the best players on the pitch

@ribbonpodcast Yes there are always exceptions we can point to -like Barrett from NL but it worries me that it seems to be the default, rather than looking up and adding 1 or 2 from lower leagues.

We signed Jamma and Josh Gordon from League One
Paul James@paulwjames

@ribbonpodcast Why are we getting excited by a player who played for a relegated club last year? We should be getting excited by L1 or above signings. They're the ones they get you promoted. Hope he does well though.

Definitely got a valid point We have seen certain players come on loan at walsall and think they are too good to be playing at walsall and then end up going nowhere And then on the other hand we had some good youngsters on loan who used coming to walsall to develop and improve themselves and some have gone on to have fantastic starts to their careers

😤 "No 18/19 year old who hasn't played for the first team should be earning £10k-a-week!" 😫 "It kills a lot of careers!" Darragh MacAnthony slams the wages being paid to academy players and explains how it's damaging a generation of potential stars! 💷

I was just reading about this. To me, it makes matters considerably worse. The issue is no longer simply whether the original red card was justified. It is whether FIFA has undermined the integrity of the World Cup, and its own authority as the global regulator of football, by appearing either to invent a procedure or, at the very least, to apply its rules in a wholly unprecedented way, against a backdrop of acknowledged political pressure, while refusing to give reasons and seemingly leaving the decision with no meaningful avenue of challenge. As someone committed to sporting integrity, transparency, fairness and the rule of law in sport, if the reports of what has happened are accurate, I find this deeply troubling. For years I have represented players and others facing lengthy bans for betting offences where there has been no suggestion whatsoever of match manipulation, because the governing bodies, including FIFA, have consistently argued that preserving confidence in the integrity of the sport requires robust and uncompromising enforcement. If that is the standard expected of participants, the regulator itself must be held to at least the same standard. If the reports are accurate, this decision, and the consequences for FIFA, could prove to be truly seismic, eclipsing the controversy about the red card itself. #sportslaw #sports #fifa #balogun
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

🚨 BREAKING: RBFA issues a new statement accusing FIFA of making their appeal "inadmissible" adding they have no choice but to "challenge the player's eligibility for the upcoming match". "After learning through media reports of FIFA’s decision to lift the automatic suspension of player Balogun, the RBFA sent a letter to FIFA requesting a copy of the decision, an explanation of the process that had been followed, and setting out its position regarding the applicable regulations. "As its only response, FIFA sent a letter to the RBFA stating that it considered this correspondence to constitute an appeal, that a judge had been appointed, and that the RBFA had only a few hours to complete that appeal. No information whatsoever was provided by FIFA. "For an appeal to be admissible, FIFA’s own regulations state that the reasoned decision must first have been communicated to the appellant. While the RBFA was merely seeking legitimate explanations, FIFA itself created an appeal and immediately ensured that it would be declared inadmissible. "All of this occurred while FIFA simultaneously refused to respond to the RBFA’s legitimate requests. "Furthermore, during the match coordination meeting, FIFA deliberately removed the section concerning the automatic suspension of players from its presentation. This topic had nonetheless been part of all such meetings before each of the previous four matches. The RBFA questioned FIFA, both orally and in writing, about the reasons for this change, yet once again received no response. "To be clear, as of this moment, the RBFA has still not received any decision or any explanation from FIFA regarding this matter. It therefore has no alternative but to challenge the player's eligibility for the upcoming match. "Regardless of the sporting outcome of this match, the RBFA is deeply saddened by the course of events and will continue to fight in the coming hours, days and months in defence of the fundamental principles of ethics, fair competition, and the interests of football as a whole."

🇲🇽🔥 Mexico makes history! El Tri are now the only host nation to remain unbeaten at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 💪 Their four consecutive victories also mark the first-ever 4-0 start in Mexico's World Cup history. 📈🏆 History is being written. 🇲🇽
