Vtubing is about accessibility and freedom. We know how women in livestreaming are treated when using a camera regardless of appearance. Sometimes it's just easier to put up a shield to take those insults for us and feel more confident and safe clapping back For those of us who are disabled, a vtuber model allows us privacy. I'm glad my model doesn't show the pain I'm in and share that with my viewers. I can keep those real life moments private so I and my viewers can enjoy the stream together People that allege vtubers must all be hiding something about their appearances haven't thought very hard about it. Because if they can jump on stream each day without issue and feel like they're not hiding anything, what's stopping vtubers from doing the same? It's easier for them to come to the conclusion that vtubers are being deceptive rather than try to see it through an empathetic lens
