School Board approves for @Supt_Avossa to begin work with the @PBCSD on June 12.

Board repeatedly refers to the three finalists as "Super Stars".

Board begins discussions of the @pbcsd superintendent candidates after listening to their interview answers.

"What matters most to me is to contribute to the community where i live," Avossa says during closing remarks.

"Does this community have the courage to face the challenges and fortitude to hold it together when things get tough?" says Avossa.

Avossa says growing up in Melbourne, Fla. gave him good quality of life he wants to to share with his kids, what is attractive to @pbcsd.

Critical issues in five years acc'd to Avossa: Reauthorization of No Child Left Behind, testing and accountability, addressing construction.

On difficult decisions "As long as it's for kids, as long as it's research based, then I sleep at night," Avossa says.

"The community wants students who are graduating college and are career ready". @Supt_Avossa

Avossa says strength: "I'm a teacher at heart." Fiscally conservative citing ability to give over half teachers a 10% raise.

Avossa says he has devoted his teaching career to Title I and primarily minority schools.

Avossa says he utilities "pressure and support" to implement accountability and determine how to get better.

Avossa says he spends a lot of time in his current schools in program called "getting connected" to learn what is needed.

Avossa says there are great things happening in @pbcsd. Will create 90-day entry plan to methodically go through divisions.
