@jonawils Is it really appropriate for a journalist to demand the sacking of someone from their job…….

**Updated list** The last two years for Irish football: - Sacked Stephen Kenny (Nov '23) - CEO Jonathan Hill resigns (Apr '24) - FAI takes 7 months to find a new manager - 4 friendlies in that time for John O’Shea to audition for the job - End up hiring their 'first-choice' Heimir Hallgrímsson - €650k salary - RTÉ documentary on mistreatment of female players by coaches (Jul '24) - Colin Healy claims he was dismissed despite verbal reassurances he would be kept on WNT's coaching staff (Dec '24) - Manage to stay in Nations League B by beating Bulgaria home and away - Marc Canham resigns (Apr '25) - Championship players given break from June squad as they'll need to be fresh for next year's World Cup - 'Summer soccer' plan defeated (Aug '25) - FAI launches voluntary redundancy programme, which will move towards compulsory job losses as part of restructuring (Aug '25) - Will Clarke's Academy report reveals glaring issues with current facilities (Aug '25) - Eileen Gleeson takes legal action against FAI for 'gender discrimination' (Aug '25) - Play Doherty LB and go 2 goals down at home to Hungary inside the first 15 mins - Get absolutely battered away to Armenia - No clear structure on pitch - Can't defend anymore - Introduce ineffective long throw-ins because everyone else is doing them - Players now seem to play better for their clubs than their country, and have done so for a long time - Have conceded first in 9 of Heimir's 10 competitive games - Can only buy tickets in three-match bundles until a week or two before - FAI €43m in debt - Still only €125k for LOI champions - €32k for FAI Cup winners (+gate receipts) - Shamrock Rovers and Shelbourne's success in Europe this season is in spite of their governing body The FAI has failed Irish football. There are many good people in the organisation who are about to lose their jobs due to the incompetence of top-level management. Hopefully, last night is rock bottom, but my fear is we're still not even there yet. Something just has to change.

Who’s everyone backed for the Grand National? 🐎 I’ve had small personal wagers on Mahler Mission (12/1) and Coko Beach (40/1).

Some personal news: I’m leaving @thetimes @TimesSport⁩. Been made redundant. I’ve loved my eight years there, great people, I thank them for the platform and I leave as current @SportSJA and @WeAreTheFSA Football Journalist of the Year 👍

Well, there he is. 17 caps for the Vatican over 75s. Looks after himself, drinks only very, very fine wine. Can climb two flights of stairs unassisted, needs only one nun to help him get out of a chair. #frted

A Walsall pensioner celebrated his 90th birthday by playing a game of walking football. Mike Fisher still plays three times a week – as well as a weekly game of indoor cricket. He celebrated his birthday with his team mates at Sneyd Community Association in Bloxwich.

@TeleFootball @JBurtTelegraph Hi Jason, your article is ironically behind a pay wall. Can you clarify Is it morally ok for the telegraph to make money off written articles about this individual? Thanks in advance.

The premier league have looked at the injustice against Man City yesterday and as a gesture of good will, they will now only be charged with 114 breaches of financial regulations. #ManchesterCity

The #AllianzLeagues are over now which concludes the bulk of my work for the spring except for a few bits of miscellany over the next few days. I will be of course be covering all the SHC Hurling Leagues, the Tailteann Cup and new SFC format - if I can get my head around it.

What are your favourite current crime dramas? Hard to beat Gomorra. But I find Blue Bloods really good. I also think Happy Valley is on another level.
