They are dangerously hard. All done for drainage and all year round use, not for players. Our joints and bones were perfect on deep turf pitches because they took 90% of the shock. Now pitches give all of that shock back to the bones and tendons. But us thick as fuck players don't complain 🤷🏽‍♂️

@StanCollymore @StanCollymore - have you EVER heard any opposing manger / player in the PL / CL complain about the hardness of any pitch let alone Spurs pitch ? Surely theirs is no harder than any other in the PL / CL complain?

Modern pitches are a disgrace. 1 ft of compact sand with an inch of half grass, half plastic fibres. Add the disgrace that are modern boots and the impacting in joints, bones and tendons is the equivalent of jolting on concrete. Original pitches had soft earth under grass allowing checking, turning and impacts to be absorbed. Player welfare sacrificed at the altar of all season optics.

@JohnMajury @StanCollymore It’s a garbage excuse about a hard pitch - it can’t be any harder than any other PL / CL pitch - have you EVER heard any other manager / player complain about the pitch as Spurs - I’ve heard many excuses from opposing managers but never a hard pitch being one of them !

@StanCollymore You do realise we (Spurs) have had that pitch for 7 years? So why have we not have had just as bad injuries over those 7 years?

@StanCollymore Soft earth - that is rubbish - if they were soft they would cause more injuries as the boots would be digging into the “soft”earth - how would you maintain it ? A mower wheels would leave tracks in it - you can only soften / harden a pitch within a very small parameter !

@StanCollymore I think this is a pile of rubbish to be honest BUT it would be interesting to get a perspective from a PL groundsman as to whether this is a thing or not ! In my opinion athlete’s bodies are so finely tuned nowadays it is inevitable injuries will happen - pushed too far !
