@Sariel_Nero It's always so difficult to lose a loved one, especially since your bond with them will be the most personal and never can be understood by anyone else. The memories are precious, and you are a wonderful brother by how you cherish them.

I need to get something off my chest before stream tomorrow, so just ignore me if that bothers you. My brother had Spina Bifida. He passed away December of 2023. I loved my brother. He was 4 years older than me. I mention him on stream sometimes, but I want to talk about him here. When he was born, my mother was told he’d never talk, and he would be gone by the time he was 6. He spoke much later than typical, but his first word was ball, and from that moment forward he was an avid sports fan. He loved the Buffalo Sabers, Chicago Cubs, and Minnesota Vikings. He was an amazingly strong person. He died at 31. 25 years longer than he was given when he was born. He had progressive paralysis that meant he couldn’t feel or move from the waste down when he was born, and it progressed until he lost feeling from mid ribcage down. Even so, every year he participated in the Special Olympics, got his highschool degree, and went to votech for photography. We grew up playing pokemon and digimon together. We’d trade cards, play video games, and watch anime together. When his health started going down, every time he ended up in the hospital, I would ask him what pokemon he wanted from the most recent pokemon game, and I would grind out until I either caught or hatched him a shiny. The last shiny I caught him was a shiny rolycoly I got to see him in a way most people who looked at him didn’t. He kept his upper body strong because he saw that as something he could do. Once when I was 10 and he was 14, he put my head through the wall because we were messing around and he didn’t realize how strong he was. I wasn’t even mad, it was impressive He had so many health problems. He was allergic to almost everything most people ate, the progressive paralysis made it hard for him to breathe later in life, and he destroyed his shoulders from wanting to wheel himself around until he couldn’t anymore and finally agreed to get an electric chair. And with all that, he was the most positive, consistently happy person I’ve ever met. He brought smiles to everyone around him. Even once I became an adult and started my own family, we purposefully lived close to my parents so I could lift him into bed as my parents got older. We would hang out all the time. We’d go on drives to get food and talk about Pokemon or One Piece. He called me the day he passed, we talked about One Piece, and he said he always enjoyed talking anime with me, and he couldn’t wait to do it again. My mom called me, because of my medical background, telling me his symptoms, and I told her my thoughts, and said be sure they take you serious, because he coud die if they delay treatment. Then I didn’t hear anything. In that time, they made him wait to be seen for 2 1/2 hours, told my mom she didn’t know what was normal for the man she had taken care of for the last 31 years, and it wasn’t until shift change and a new doctor actually seeing what was wrong that they started treating him. I was called by my mom at 10:05pm that he was crashing, and that they were attempting life saving measures. I lived 10 minutes from where he was. I sped the entire way, and as I was pulling into the hospital 6 minutes later, my dad called to tell me he was gone. There was nothing I could do, so I just pulled out of the parking spot and went home. The kids were asleep, so I go straight for my bedroom, and collapse crying in front of the bedroom door, where my wife came to comfort me. Two years later it is still really hard. I think about him every day. And some days hit harder than others. But I hope that I can be someone he’d be proud to call his brother. I hope I can do that in my content and my life as a whole. Even though he didn’t get to meet my new daughter, I know they would’ve loved each other. Thank you for indulging me in this semi-memorial, semi-soul dumping ❤️🪽
