The dark side of NO KYC crypto swaps you don't know about ! Most swap services for XMR (applies to all other as well) don’t ask for KYC. Sounds good at first, but here’s what you don’t see. 1) No KYC, until there is KYC Your funds get frozen and suddenly you’re asked to go through KYC. Either comply or lose your funds. There are legit cases but also many many where funds endup confiscated because the provider knows the user has no real way to appeal. That’s why : - having a clear risk profile before the swap is critical. Users should understand risks before the swap. - it’s important for users to understand that you’re not swapping with the wallet itself, but with a third-party provider, with its own rules. 2) Data Collection Swap services collect users' data! Period. In some cases without wallet provider even knowing about it. When user requests a quote, the IP, device and other metadata get passed directly to the provider. So if something goes wrong, not only funds get frozen, but the data can be passed to third parties as well. 3) Human Factor Many swap providers endup exposing users unknowingly. If swap is not integrated correctly on the wallet side it may end up being unsafe for people coming from conflict zones. For instance, an unhonest provider may simply confiscate funds of the users whose IPs originate from conflict zones. Not because of risk, but because they can get away with this. A user in Palestine, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan (and there are at least a dozen of other places like this...) have simply no legit means to question or appeal with the swap provider. At Unstoppable we do it differently. - we show clear risk profiles for each provider that makes it clear what risks are - we don’t collect or pass your data to swap providers. we don't work with providers that insist on us passing the data. - all quote requests go through our aggregator, which acts as a proxy between you and the provider. - where possible we alert of the risk before the swap takes place. Swap isn’t just about rates. It’s about risk and control. There are lots of sides to the story. Stay Safe!
