In 2024, one thing became clear: Apache Iceberg and the lakehouse model are shaping the future of data infrastructure. With major moves from Databricks, AWS, GCP, and Snowflake, the question isn’t if but how your data lake and lakehouse should integrate with ClickHouse. clickhou.se/4k9IN4D As your team starts to think about the next evolution of your data stack, here’s how ClickHouse fits in: ⚡ Query Iceberg & Delta without ingestion 📥 Load from S3 with s3queue & ClickPipes 🔍 Federate queries across PostgreSQL, MySQL & more 📚 Iceberg catalog support today, Glue & Unity soon What’s next? – Metadata caching, faster Parquet reads, Iceberg CDC, and full write support for open table formats. Check it out and let us know what you think.

@criccomini There are two types of MV in ClickHouse: - synchronous (mv get updated as you are inserting into the source table) - asynchronous (mv get updated automatically at a specific schedule)

Looks like their MVs are just normal MVs... github.com/ClickHouse/Cli… Looks like there's some nuance, though. #materialized-views-and-joins" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">clickhouse.com/blog/using-mat…

Digging into @ClickHouseDB a bit. It seems to fill a similar use case as Druid, Pinot, and Materialize. What are its differentiators? It doesn't have differential data flow (materialize) or startree indexes (pinot). They do have materialized views, though...

Netflix's Tech Stack. This post is based on research from many Netflix engineering blogs and open-source projects. If you come across any inaccuracies, please feel free to inform us. Mobile and web: Netflix has adopted Swift and Kotlin to build native mobile apps. For its web application, it uses React. Frontend/server communication: GraphQL. Backend services: Netflix relies on ZUUL, Eureka, the Spring Boot framework, and other technologies. Databases: Netflix utilizes EV cache, Cassandra, CockroachDB, and other databases. Messaging/streaming: Netflix employs Apache Kafka and Fink for messaging and streaming purposes. Video storage: Netflix uses S3 and Open Connect for video storage. Data processing: Netflix utilizes Flink and Spark for data processing, which is then visualized using Tableau. Redshift is used for processing structured data warehouse information. CI/CD: Netflix employs various tools such as JIRA, Confluence, PagerDuty, Jenkins, Gradle, Chaos Monkey, Spinnaker, Altas, and more for CI/CD processes. –- Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to get a Free System Design PDF (158 pages): bit.ly/3KCnWXq

It is good to see more happening around @ApacheIceberg. @ClickHouseDB integration with Apache Iceberg has been released in 23.2, and we are already seeing a lot of adoption! clickhouse.com/docs/en/engine…

Yesterday @tabulario got Series B funding (congrats to the team!) Insightful post about why open data architectures are increasingly favored - I agree there is no "one size fits all" tool for every compute task. Great to see investment in this space! linkedin.com/pulse/tabular-…
