As the school year starts, let’s remember that kids are NOT entering school equally prepared. A lack of access to quality child care, preschool and a host of other factors (read: inequality) mean many kids will enter kindergarten already behind. 1/ omny.fm/shows/kqed-seg…

feel like I should be able to put on my resume that nearly every news org I've worked at has forgotten to remove me as a social media admin when I left and I have never once abused it

The flooding in NYC got me curious about the rats. These photos are my real-time reaction to my friends explaining that rats are natural swimmers.

@rgay I have two nieces, 8 and 11 years old. The older one gave out gift coupons she made, redeemable for fashion advice. She slays. I adore them and love being an auntie.

There are lots of things parents can do to prepare their children for kindergarten, even if child care and preschool are not viable options. This guide can connect you to school readiness resources. @pemberly kqed.org/news/11959904/…

America’s child care shortage makes the first few years even trickier for parents to navigate. Finding child care could get even harder when stabilization funding from the federal American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) ends Sept. 30. kqed.org/news/11959904/…

@rgay I feel you. Have you tried ThredUp and Poshmark? I was surprised at how much came up when I searched "sequin" and "silver." Not sure what the thrift scene is where you live, but I scored a fantastic sequin top for $10 at a used clothing store.

@bmluse Wait. How late did Sunday go? I stayed out til 9 on a Sunday recently and was completely dead on Monday. More tired than I’ve been in years. But maybe that’s a 45 year old, thing not a 35 year old thing.

@daisynguyen @CAPsonoma A resource many parents aren’t aware of is @CaliforniaDDS's Early Start and its Regional Centers. They offer assessments & services for kids who may be at risk of developmental delays or disabilities. Services are free/low cost for most: 4/ dds.ca.gov/rc/
