The old way would have needed up to 110 GB of pre-made lighting data stored on your device. The game levels are much bigger than before, so creating that data would have taken weeks of computer time. Instead, the new idTech 8 engine uses real-time ray tracing so this cuts the baked lighting data to 0 GB. The game now calculates lighting live as you play, this reduces download size and helps the team work faster

I really don't understand the japanese animation pipeline sometimes, they'll put all the detail in the world for individual hairs, shiny reflections, and other things to be realistic, but they don't care at all to time animation to audio and sync mouth movements

@spi3lzeug This is not true at all by the way. They usaully to va over story board or key animation. it is actually rare for them to va over finished animation.

My issue with how anime is produced is less to do with the lack of lipsyncing and more to do with how they still use the outdated fleitscher method of recording voice acting after animation, it makes character acting not believable and emotionally distant

@magnumm_opus @weirdbeingg The series had only 2 years and 3 months of active production. With there newly formed pipeline it really only makes sense that season 2 will come april 2028. When companies invest into anime they want returns. zero companies would invest into a anime that takes 5+ years

Studio bug films first work zom 100 finished in dec 2023. it is very likely that WHA production ran from jan 2024 to april 2026. most anime get one year for a 12 episode season so this is a really good productiontime

@futurxd If what I heard about WHA production is true. they started preproduction in 2019 for anime and they are on production for like 3 years or more. Western fans lately hates to wait for a new season of show for like 2 or more years. And they are content with it+
