DB Mirror Dodge Drill - Defensive backs should focus on maintaining their initial leverage while using proper footwork and hand placement to widen the wide receiver during the release. - Defensive backs must avoid putting their near hand in during an inside release because it locks their directional hip and prevents fluid movement. - Coaches should instruct players not to press or lean into an inside release, as this often causes the defender to fall underneath the route and lose positioning. - When a receiver takes an inside release on a vertical route, the defender must burst to stack the route by fighting to get back on top of the receiver. - Players need to understand their defensive help, such as whether they are in a man-free coverage, to decide how to handle a receiver crossing their leverage. - The primary goal for a defensive back on an inside release vertical is to win the rep from the top side rather than trying to slice back underneath the receiver. This is why it’s so important for DB’s to learn to crossover run, chin to front shoulder.. eyes/arms leading feet -WR breaks outside you have him pinned between you/SL. Just snap your head & armbar or chest to chest -He breaks inside just drive on ball

DB Jab 3x Drill - Defensive backs should use jab pads held at shoulder height to simulate the receiver's frame. - Coaches should initiate the first two full-speed releases using a cadence, followed by a hard stop to reset the drill. - Proper technique requires using the off-hand to jam the receiver; for example, if the receiver moves left, the defender must jab with the right hand. - Avoiding the use of the directional hand is critical because using the hand on the same side as the receiver's movement locks the defender's hip and prevents them from turning to run. - On the third release of the drill, the coach prescribes both the specific release direction and the finish for the defensive back to execute. - If the receiver takes an outside release, the defender should clear the turn and look for the ball, whereas an inside release requires the defender to burst and stack. @perez44281 Interesting how DB coaches are willing to coach the feet before the hands, while OL & WR coaching can be so hand-centric. So many coaching points and indy drills start with the upper body when, in reality, the game is played with the feet (at every position)
