This is what happens when one of the following goes to no. 10: An Israeli official. = Mass protests. President Trump. = Mass protests. Syrian President Ahmed al‑Sharaa, a man who led Al-Qaeda, anti-Christian pogroms and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians. = No protests.

Hamas terrorists show up for work at the UN with rifles in hand. Then they swap out their AK-47s for blue UNRWA vests, get into UN marked vehicles, and start their day jobs as UNRWA employees.

I love my country. I hate that islam is spreading in it. Now I need to face down armies of people defending mohammad getting with a 9 year old and threatening to kill me for opposing this. This shouldn't be my life. My ancestors didn't die for this to be happening in Britain.

If Britain were in today’s condition back in the 1950s or 60s, the CIA would likely have engineered a coup and installed a military junta, all under the banner of protecting Western interests and values.

Having lived in both Britain and Cyprus, I’ve seen how sheltered the average Brit is: blind to real military threats, convinced all criticism is deserved, and certain they are well educated, especially about history. They think they know good from bad, yet they are among the most ignorant populations, led by a middle-class, white liberal tier. In Cyprus, occupation is a daily reminder of vulnerability... in Britain, comfort breeds delusion and privilege masks decline as the nation loses what once made it strong and defensible.
Andrew Neil@afneil

I am very wary of reports that the UK is now within range of Iranian ballistic missiles. But if the reports are true, let’s be in no doubt: the UK has no defences against such missiles. No dedicated national ballistic missile defence (BMD) system for intercepting intermediate- or intercontinental-range threats aimed at the homeland. No ground-based interceptors (like US THAAD or Patriot systems in Europe) deployed in Britain for this purpose. In theory our T-45 warships could provide some cover. But most are currently undeployable or not in UK waters. Leaving us defenceless from ballistic missile attack. Another massive military failure of the political class of all recent governments.

@kennardmatt At least we can agree on some things, Matt. The British, in cahoots with the CIA, quite literally handed the keys to Cyprus, to Turkey.

The UK colonies were there in 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied 37% of Cyprus British forces on the island did nothing - and then helped partition the island Akrotiri and Dhekelia are nothing to do with security. They are about imperial power projection in Sahel and Levant
Robert Midgley@RobertMidgley07

Akrotiri and Dhekelia are British, and they’re not negotiable Cyprus can’t abolish someone else’s sovereign land These sovereign areas also reinforce the UN buffer zone and deter any further Turkish advancement - they're essential to local and regional security and stability

Cyprus is full of fraudulent individuals in influential places. This man is one if them. Unbelievable that this was his stance a week or so ago. A sore loser who puts party politics before country - like the rest if them. It's you I am referring to, @AverofCY. FRAUD.

@Con_Tomlinson Your ethnic identity is derived from ancestry, not your national identity. People seem to struggle to grasp that these are two different things, hence a debate that is going nowhere.

National identity is derived from ancestry, just as gender is derived from sex. You can no more become English than a man wearing a dress can call himself a woman. Having different heritage doesn't mean you should be mistreated, just as men and women should treat one another with respect. It's not complicated, and it shouldn't be controversial.
