Been about five years since I first read this, on the English language's *completely universal but totally invisible* adjective hierarchy, and I can honestly say I've thought about it most days since.

@psirides I love this change in perception. What if teachers changed their thought pattern in education. Instead of the student/parent can't speak English, it becomes the teacher can't speak Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, etc. and attempt to find a reasonable way to communicate in spite of this.

An epiphany moment when I replaced ‘patient unable to speak English’ with ‘doctor unable to speak Arabic’. Will henceforth document thus (unless I learn Arabic).

@ELPA21Assess The information in this toolkit is good for ALL teachers. Every student in your classroom - every student you work with - will benefit.

ELL is a tier one support. Not an intervention. Empower our students. Encourage multilanguage use in the schools. Thank you @ValentinaESL #ELevateSTL22

We differentiate instruction because not all multilingual learners are the same. They each bring unique strengths, individual English levels, and distinct styles of learning to the table. 💪 #DifferentiateInstruction #ELLChat #ELL

EL students at Holling Heights are helping to ring in the the holidays by decorating a tree for Jingle 2021. It's great to see all the languages of our wonderful multi-lingual students displayed.

I saw Jim Gaffigan last night - he was hilarious. He made a great analogy: My kids were asked to do their school work on the same device they use to play Minecraft. That's like having a Weight Watchers meeting at Wendy's. Kinda true!

Differentiating instruction is more than a few strategies and resources — it is an approach to teaching. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have the right tools. Thanks, @ColorinColorado, for putting this together to support differentiating instruction: hubs.la/H0Zvx2C0
