Today, we are once again witnessing the reckless abuse of @policenh powers against social media users in Nigeria. What is even more disturbing is how some Nigerian celebrities now appear more eager than politicians and security agencies to throw largely poor young Nigerians into prison under the guise of “cybercrime,” simply because of internet banter or comments they dislike. I have read reports about singers like @Simi and @AdekunleGold allegedly using the police against critics online, and now similar allegations involving @ayrastarr and others keep surfacing. Meanwhile, these same celebrities sit comfortably among international stars abroad demanding respect and award for creative freedom and artistic expression, yet many of those global celebrities would never (and functioning systems) won’t let them weaponize the police, corrupt prosecutors, or compromised court judges against ordinary citizens over free speech or online commentary. This growing culture of criminalizing speech, jokes, criticism, trolling, and online banter is dangerous to democracy and fundamentally incompatible with freedom of expression. The real shame belongs to the irresponsible Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG and sections of the justice system that continue enabling these abuses instead of protecting citizens’ rights. The police must stop acting as private enforcers for the rich, connected and powerful. Nigerians cannot continue to be shipped to prison because influential people are offended online. #RevolutionNow

I love talking about club owners because I want you guys to see the amount of work that goes on BTS. For the first time since the Scottish Premiership was established in 2013, a team outside Glasgow challenged for the title, but fell. Guess the mastermind, yes, TONY BLOOM. Owner of Brighton, Melbourne Victory and Union Saint-Galloise. Tony is a serial gambler, in fact, he built a career out of gambling. A graduate of Mathematics who went on to work for one of the Big 4s (EY), quickly knew what he wanted to achieve in life early in his career. Bro wanted to “revolutionalise” gambling. He went to Asia to work for a gambling company, that was where he learnt about the Asian Handicap options (I’m sure those who bet will know this option😅). Tony is big on data analytics, and he gained his biggest financial and social capital when everyone gave Brazil less odds to win the World Cup in 1998, he pressured his company to give the lesser odds to France, after he studied them extensively. France ended up winning the World Cup, this was where he started, he returned from Asia, opened his bet company and made loads of money off the Asian handicap he learned in Asia😅 When he opened another company, Starlizard, I read that before you’re employed, you’ll go through serious mathematics tests, the guy use to have more than 200 Data Analysts working for him😭. The way they set their betting odds was totally different from others, they would even consider if it’s raining or if the sun is shining, it will check even the players’ mental state😭, and many other criteria, before odds are set. While operating Starlizard in the betting markets, he created like a subsidiary company called JAMESTOWN ANALYTICS in 2017, he built a model that focuses on recruiting players and monitoring performance. This model is a crazy one. It believed that human scouts would have bias, so why not use data analytics. The model identifies players in small teams or from leagues that you’ll never imagine, leagues where you can buy players with not so much money, just like Caicedo signed from Ecuador, Mitoma from Japan, MacAllister from Argentina, etc. The model gives every player a rating and market value, it then monitors the players that exceeds their performance expectations and value. It also considers how players fit into different leagues, crazy work I must say. Tony started to rake in money from just buying players low, and selling them high. He bought USG in Belgium, they had been through a lot, wallowing in the second division. He applied the Jamestown Analytics model, USG moved from division 2 to the Pro League, they won the league in regular season in their first year from division 2, but lost in the championship play off round. 3 years later they won the league, and the cup subsequently. Players like Undav were part of the scouting at USG back then. He bought 29% of Hearts in June 2025, the club also secured the exclusive right to Jamestown Analytics model in the Scottish league. This model was applied immediately, and they were able to sign players like Claudio Braga from Norwegian 2nd division, Alexandros Kyziridis from Zemplin in Slovakia, and some other crazy scouting. You can see the kind of markets they’re buying players from. Hearts almost won the league in just one year of Bloom’s ownership. A man who took Brighton from League One to playing European football, USG from Division 2 to Belgian champions, I’m sure Hearts will taste victory soon. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet one of the crazier minds, TONY BLOOM

When you see clubs succeeding, never think it’s a fluke. Get your 🍿 Bournemouth are currently 6th in the Premier League, all thanks to their visionary owner, Bill Foley. I watched an interview with Peter Crouch where he was asked why he sacked Gary O’Neil after he saved them from relegation, this interview was in 2023, his response described how pragmatic he is. He appreciated Gary O’Neil but said he wanted to take the club to a new level, they wanted the club to play in a particular way, and the best person for the job was Andoni Iraola. They’ve been monitoring Iraola and luckily for them, he became available. If you guys remember Iraola’s Vallecano team, they were known for high-intense organised pressing, also played a vertical and direct style with priority in winning balls in the final third and quick transitions. This was what Bill Foley wanted. In fact, he said, if they didn’t get Iraola, they would have kept Gary, bt they couldn’t miss that opportunity. Here’s one important thing he said in that interview, he said if Iraola didn’t work, HE WILL TAKE THE BLAME, hence, they supported him with the right players that’ll fit his style. For example, Semenyo. They signed him from Bristol City after they saw his intense pressing in the EFL, perfect for Iraola style. Bill Foley also describes himself as a business man before any other thing. It’s clear what Bournemouth’s business model is, "buy low, develop, sell high", while still staying competitive. This is evident in how they sign players, Zabarnyi from Kyiv, sold to PSG, Huijsen, Kerkez from AZ (Truffert replacement), Kroupi, Rayan, etc. If you have time, please read about Bill Foley, he’s also a funny man. He’s been asked in several interviews that, “why Bournemouth?”, he said because the club was on sale😂. He had the opportunity to buy minority stakes at different clubs but he wasn’t interested. Bournemouth was 100% ownership and that’s why he was keen. Also, they just promoted to the prem in 2022, perfect for him. Remember Bill has one of the most successful hockey teams in the US, he’s very successful in Sports. He also describes himself as a BUILDER, his goal is to elevate Bournemouth. A new stadium is on the way because we all know Vitality Stadium is the smallest, 11k capacity, he wants more fans, especially young fans, to be able to attend games, they’re building crazy training centres for women’s football, the academy and the first team. He’s also leading community initiatives within Bournemouth, same as what Ryan and Rob are doing at Wrexham. They don’t want to be seen as arrogant Americans taking over, they want to integrate with the community as much as possible. Lastly, Bill works with a tightly-knitted team, he doesn’t want a crowd, that’s why Bournemouth are one of the few clubs without an official Sporting director, they’re a very strategic club. I know a club that has like 3 Sporting Directors😭 One of his team member, Tiago Pinto, President of Football Operations, describes Bournemouth as a “peaceful planning environment” compared to bigger clubs like Roma. Pinto came from Roma as their SD, don’t forget he signed Huijsen on loan to Roma from Juventus, and he also signed him for £12m to Bournemouth on a permanent basis. He knew the guy well. There’s Neill Blake, a Bournemouth guy through and through, has been there for long through League Two down to prem, he was CEO for a long time before Bill took over and made him MD of the Multi-Club scheme they’re running, known as Black Knight Football Club (BKFC). The clubs under BKFC are Bournemouth, FC Lorient (now you understand how they got Kroupi), Moreirense, Auckland, Hibernian (I think this was recently sold). I wrote all of these just to show you guys that lots of work go on BTS. Bournemouth are in that position by proper planning. Hope you enjoyed the read?

Try as much as possible to avoid gain trains, especially those that are not from your niche. I keep seeing people with massive followers and good number of verified users, but can’t even pull 100 likes or 1k views. This is because most of your followers are not into your niche, algorithm won’t push your tweets to their TL, and if they don’t see your tweets, how can they engage?? Many will even see it and still won’t engage it because that’s not what they’re interested in. Focus on the gain trains from your own niche.
