I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Let the women wrestle as physically tough as their male counterparts. I love watching the women compete. I HATE how every hard club is called for “being too rough”. Let them scrap!! This is wrestling!!

In a male-dominated sport, Kennedy Blades worked nonstop to become the best wrestler she could be. Representing Team USA at the Olympics and winning silver was a dream but she’s not finished - she’s ready to run it back and chase gold 🙌

One of the many reasons I respect Coach Doug Schwab of Northern Iowa. This came following last year’s National Duals, when a reporter asked him whether he liked the idea of keeping the event a “mid-major” tournament. Schwab responded in a way that only he could. Keep in mind, this interview took place immediately after Northern Iowa had just beaten Nebraska in a dual. UNI finished last season 14–1 in duals, with their only loss coming against Oklahoma State. Yes, the term “mid-major” technically exists in wrestling, though it’s far more commonly associated with sports like football and basketball. Today, the first mid-major coaches poll of the season was released, which prompted this discussion again. Here is the link for reference: nwcaonline.com/news/2026/1/7/… Honestly, Schwab makes a very valid point. I’ve never really understood the need for a separate “mid-major” ranking in wrestling. This isn’t a sport where that distinction serves much purpose. In other sports—and correct me if I’m wrong—it seems to exist mostly for administrative or promotional reasons. Maybe it guarantees exposure for programs that would otherwise be buried beneath Big Ten, Big 12, or ACC brands. Maybe it helps generate content, headlines, and engagement. But in wrestling, many of these so-called “mid-major” programs already compete in power conferences like the Big 12. So I genuinely don’t understand why this ranking even exists, or why coaches are asked to rank teams this way at all. Coaches already have to participate in polls as it is—but that’s probably a separate discussion altogether.

My thoughts Nebraska played their ass off last night and the fans made that place an absolute JUICE FACTORY Could not have asked for a better 1st half and we were in the fight until the end USC is one of the best offenses in the country that averages 500 yards/game & we held them to 337 They average 40 points/game & held them to 21 We lost our QB and were down to our 3rd OT in the 3Q and the boys kept swinging Didn’t lose hope Didn’t give up The entire game felt like a next-play mentality Hats off to Lateef coming into a moment like that Hats off to the team for rallying around him Hats off to that damn secondary that showed the hell up!!! (Andrew Marshall I SEE YOU on the fake CB blitz and baiting that RPO into an INT) And also shoutout to everyone for embracing the Blackout ☠️ —that place looked awesome and it 100% has to happen every year Entire game felt like a war mentality and unfortunately we came up short Everyone will talk trash, bring up our past, talk about what their “expectations” are —but they don’t know shit.
