Even if you did not support Trumps decision to launch of war of choice against Iran (like me), restricting the use of US airbases in NATO countries imprudently damages NATO unity. Yes, Trumps threats to invade/annex NATO countries does too. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

Facing the total loss of the US position in the gulf, the president is under considerable pressure to escalate to a ground incursion. It is going to be an even bigger disaster, generating even more pressure for further escalation which will result in a full-blown catastrophe. It’s just really, really hard to see how the US can avoid defeat here. No course of action is promising in the least. Recent updates suggest that the interdiction war has failed. Hormuz cannot be retaken without it. Further decapitation is not going to work. The limited-objective ground incursion options, if undertaken, would almost certainly result in disaster. The US simply does not have the armed force strength — even with a draft — of occupying Iran. The United States has been truly defeated by the newly-minted great power.

Entirely misses the point that it's a death penalty that only applies to one ethnicity, the Palestinians, a people who are illegally occupied, living under military rule and subject to dispossession, constant violence and ethnic cleansing

Bunkers are so dumb. The only power these idiots have is money. If the dollar and society collapses, necessitating a move into the bunker, they would no longer have any power or leverage with which to defend their pathetic bunker.

BREAKING: Palantir CEO Alex Karp has bought a $46M “billionaire bunker” in Miami, which has its own private police, and neighbors include Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jared Kushner.

@nxt888 I remember working with someone in 1979 who quoted Westmoreland to explain to me why Pol Pot was who he was. I was horrified by her believing it to be true.

General William Westmoreland, the American commander in Vietnam, said that Asians do not value human life the way Westerners do. He said this to explain why Vietnamese soldiers kept fighting despite losses that would have broken Western armies. He did not say: perhaps they are fighting for something worth dying for. He did not say: perhaps our intelligence about their will to fight was wrong. He did not say: perhaps we have fundamentally misunderstood this enemy. He said: they don't value life. This is what happens when an army built on the premise of its own civilizational superiority meets a people who simply refuse to accept that premise. The army cannot update its model. It cannot say "we were wrong about who these people are." So it invents a theory where the enemy's resistance is not a sign of strength but a sign of deficiency. They keep fighting because life is cheap to them. Not because their cause is just. Not because they are brave. Because they are less than us. Westmoreland ran the war for years on this theory. He lost. The Vietnamese people, who apparently did not value life, built a country that is alive and growing and free. Westmoreland died in 2005. The people he could not understand are still here. So is the theory.

All that praise for Poilievre by the pundits and in articles. He's changed. "He's prime ministerial now. He's travelling. He's talking about the US and trade." Wonder how frustrated those who praised him, must feel right now, since he's sharing misleading rage-farming posts 🤔

@KathrynMathias1 @RosieBarton It’s wishful thinking on their part and is a clue to their mindset of the US being able to easily rebound in a positive direction after Trump. I remain a skeptic.

It's a mistake, IMHO, for some of the pundits to frame the need for Canada to be more independent as only necessary due to Trump and that once Trump is gone we'll change our minds about the govt spending money to reinforce our sovereignty. (I'm watching @RosieBarton Live)

I had a loved one in my family choose MAiD when he was in the last months of painful bladder cancer. I see a lot of people on this platform calling it immoral. The only immoral thing I see is making people suffer when they choose to die on their own terms with dignity.
